Working on an end of year drawing, but every time I even think of beginning the shading process I die and end up deleting twenty layers. END RESULT just before midnight: In comparison the same MMO necromancer outfit from 2012: Let's all work hard for the next year, breaking into an art gallery, rolling up and smoking the mona lisa for inspiration. coolusername fucked around with this message at 13:45 on Dec 31, 2017 |

well, finally got to finishing this one that I started back in October (one of many pictures I was hoping to finish before the end of 2017. Oh well ). still trying to learn to use a larger palette of colors without them feeling random/incongruous. a hole-y ghost posted:I hate working on something for a while only to get the feeling I've made it worse

Cue "vaporwave" love of all things which belong on a Trapper Keeper cover. Not that I can talk. The client for the remix album directed me to make it... 80s arcade style... hence "Console Records". Ugh.

Oooo! It's actually super easy- You make a new document about 1pixel wide by like, 5 pixels high for a high res photo, and with a white background as the base. Take the pencil tool and with black, cover about 3 of the top pixels. then go into Edit>define pattern, name it as like 5px scanline. Then, on the thing you wanna do the scanlines on, make a new layer, press shift+backspace, choose "pattern", and then find whatever you saved your scanline pattern as. It'll fill the screen and look awful, but lower the opacity and magically, scanlines! You can make it whatever size scanline you like- I just used a 1x5 pixel because my canvases are HUGE and require a bigger scanline. If you're working on something smaller, a 1x2 would work just as well. For thicker scanlines, just make it longer, so like 1x10 or something.

Just need to chime in and say that I sculpt in zBrush using my Surface Book (i7, 16gb RAM, crappy GPU) and it's totally fine. Sometimes when I get into the ridiculously high-poly stuff it may have small performance issues, but if I can sculpt millions of poly's just fine, I think photoshop is just fine. Also, I do photoshop work for my job on this PC, I'm not drawing in PS but I've never had photoshop issues, zbrush issues, only once did I have Substance Painter issues.
