Are SWIFT drivers really that bad? I figure they're pretty universally loathed. When I worked for the travelling magic and tiger show I rode in the big truck a few times and Easymoney (the driver, he didn't ever give us his actual name) would always point out SWIFT trucks and yell, "It stands for Sure Wish I'd Finished Training!" That joke got real fuckin old but it still goes through my head any time I see a SWIFT trailer.

Needed to be updated for New Panamax ships for whom "huge" is no longer a sufficient descriptor.

Ikasuhito posted:That sounds like a challenge to me. If I recall correctly, those are canal boils(?) or weirs Basically a force generated by virtue of architecture that can keep a body in constant submerged spin cycle until there's not enough water flowing to let it work loose. In good conditions, you won't work loose for like, a week solid. The rule is "inner side goes down, outer side goes up", far as I know. It's about priority of evacuation, and it applies to either clockwise or counterclockwise staircases naturally.

But aren't Capeships still biggest and New Panamax is just to maximise size after the expansion of the Panama canal? Been a few years since I was on the big haulers (I only dealt with Handymax, Panamax and Capeships), so I am probably wrong.

I thought we already talked about the tiger and magic show in this thread? Short version: I worked for a travelling exotic animal and magic show and when we weren't touring I worked at the exotic animal park owned by a man named Joe Exotic. He ran for president last year. The work conditions were inhumane and they treated their employees (a mixture of fresh out of high school kids and illegal immigrants) like complete poo poo. I once saw a man severely beaten by a kangaroo. I swear we talked about this in the thread? Edit: I just checked and it was apparently another thread where I discussed the magical mystery tiger tour.

You can't tell from the video, but this actually spans two days and in total three people died: http://www.pressconnects.com/story/news/public-safety/2015/09/29/40-years-later-drowned-firefighters-honored/72989294/ quote:Durkan, a fellow firefighter and the second rafter broke free from the backwash, but firefighter Russell drowned. It's like the water version of hearing about people dying in methane pits. The real tragedy is the initial 'rescue' attempt was just to recover a dead body. :/

On the other hand, you can go too far in the other direction: http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-hampshire-17131333 quote:Charity shop worker Simon Burgess, 41, of Burnhams Walk, Gosport, was found floating in the shallow lake at nearby Walpole Park in March 2011.
