I know some people do legitimately get headaches from single fluorescent bulbs because they do flicker at the AC frequency (either 50 or 60 Hz depending on location). The frequencies are low enough that you can notice them barely. This was part of the big pushback when the incandescent phaseout started here in the states. Since LEDs operate on DC power, they don't flicker, so I don't know why people are demanding the return to incandescent bulbs when fluorescent bulbs are being phased out by companies that make bulbs other than maybe they cost more and are unable to read the labels saying they last forever. Funny enough, a significant number of fluorescents (like at stores) don't have the flicker problem because there's so many of them, the ever so tiny delay between the bulbs' individual flickers won't cause the headaches. iospace fucked around with this message at 18:44 on Jan 8, 2018 |

People laughed at it at the time, but despite being 15 years old I see a lot of them still driving around. Unlike drivers of normal scooters who all crashed and died at some point.

To be fair, at the time the Energy Saving bulbs were still pretty poo poo things that took time to warm up and looked orange. It probably happened a couple of years too early. Now? I've no idea what the gently caress you'd have to be smoking.
