that being said, I think if a socialist revolution happens in the US, I think it's going to be the radical elements of US history like the IWW and Malcolm X and so on that will be its icons, rather than, say, Lenin. but if that kind of a movement happens, it will be important that the leaders of that movement understand the significance of things like Lenin and the Russian Revolution and Marx, etc

The Attack Korea column made me so angry I had to like pause the radio to talk to myself for 15 minutes about all the ways in which it is stupid and monstrous. Just yesterday I was reading about the early history of the NSDAP and the eventual fate of the founding members of the German Workers' Party, and this Luttwak piece of poo poo sounds exactly like Hans Frank and Alfred Rosenberg. A highlight was the interviewer asking about him turning conservative at Bard College. “I was caught listening to rap,” he said. A few questions later he admitted that he was singing along to NAS and dropping the N-word on his college radio show and then was shocked when people called him out on it.

I do not think the chumps voting for the billionaire huckster are especially concerned with the distribution of wealth in society, and as president it's hard to imagine Oprah would, either.

They value motivating the base and winning undecideds by offering quality of life, real gains, even if they burn bridges along the way, especially among the wealthier donors like Wall Street. And, of course, block GOP nominations/laws all the time, every time. Liberals tend to conform to the status quo a lot more, arguing that nothing will change if they just turn people off by being too radical. Working within the system to try and get tax incentives to fields they see as beneficial, voting along with republicans several times in the belief that they might someday return the favor or because it's not worth it to break civility/disrupt the government to make a point. Antagonizing any powerful established group is a big no-no: Oil, coal, Pharma, health insurance, they are all a part of our beautiful tapestry and need love and representation. They will praise and ally with -almost- anyone further right who can offer a rethorical or political edge. My bias is showing, but I hope that helped.
