For any new readers of the thread who don't know: http://chinaoutlook.com/can-chinese-writing-survive-the-computer-age/ quote:“I would say the Chinese government’s ham-handedness in defending and trying to control its image abroad is the biggest challenge [to promoting Chinese]. There’s still an attitude of victimhood on the part of the Chinese government, so when outsiders look in and comment on China and try to take part in the many dialogs—political, economic, cultural, linguistic—that involve China, if the conversation turns negative, the kneejerk reaction on the part of the central government is to say, ‘This hurts the feelings of the Chinese people,’ and then lash out at the West. That makes Chinese culture less attractive to outsiders and it makes people wary of things Chinese, and it has an effect on peoples’ desire to learn Chinese or care about China.” The rest of the article is a joke, though.

When an entire country behaves, as a matter of policy, exactly like that abusive person you used to date, it’s time to call them out on their bullshit. I’ll consider the feelings of the Chinese people when the Chinese government considers the impact of its policies and actions on the lives of others. Why should the Chinese be the only people who get to have feelings?

It’s not bad at all if you’re going like a couple stations away and you’re splitting it with someone. I hardly ever take cabs but I’m not vehemently opposed to it when my wife or friends want to take one. it’s 430 yen now but if it’s getting compared to cheaper asian countries than yeah of course it’s expensive from a relative standpoint like north america

None of those fivehead gifs are loading for me except fr the first one. loving LOL. Edit: Add a "v" at the end of "gif" when you paste the link, so we don;t need 100mb to watch a fivehead. On the other hand, I got Chaoshan Girl to buy Express VPN while in Thailand to use since she needs one for her business, and I wanted to see if it breaks during the time period when the CCP said they would stop VPNs. She's really, really happy with it after I showed her how to use Google and Youtube to find information. Her words after arriving back to China and forgetting to turn it on were "Baidu is such poo poo. Really poo poo. I can't find any information I need." Due to the cold streak Shenzhen is getting now, she's been in the house watching Youtube and Netflix. Then she asked me what some porn video sites were, because she's only seen a few with me there with her, and wanted to look at whatever she fancied. I gave her some site address and she went hog wild. She gave me play-by-plays of all of the ones she watched but these were my favorite comments: Woman masturbates with vibrator: Fat girl masturbates to orgasm: Bajaj fucked around with this message at 16:22 on Jan 11, 2018 |

Collateral Damage posted:Solar roadways are also absolute bullshit. It's not lack of space to put panels on that stops the world going solar. lol i had never heard of this before but this was my first thought. it took me seconds to question this poo poo. put them literally anywhere else that wont constantly be covered with vehicles/dirt/anything.

Kinda makes sense, the action of cars passing overhead keeps dirt and debris off the surface. Dusting down 100s or 1000s of square metres of solar panel could be a pain. On the other hand rubber and oil and poo poo would accumulate, plus repairs would cost more. I'm sure someone has done a cost benefit analysis of the whole thing. Also, transparent concrete?

i guess it depends on whether a road is clean, but i would say a solar panel in an empty field or on top of a building will 9 times out of 10 be cleaner than the "transparent concrete" of a road. It would certainly be easier to maintain.

If only there was a way to build wipers onto panels, which could use electricity from somewhere, to wipe the panels...

Solar panels are not quite as clean as it looks. I am not talking about manufacturing or fake Chinese panels, I am talking about washing them to keep up efficiency. It takes up a fair bit more water than you would expect as you're washing a car with each one which isn't a problem unless you are in the dry area where you can get the most power. The water draw from what little is there can gently caress up ecosystem. I haven't heard of problems yet but as they push further out it's going start becoming one. It isn't too different from farmers making the desert "Green" by planting crops and using absurd amounts of water to do it. Its still a good option to build as long as you do a proper impact analysis. Solar roadways have to be energy negative between construction, efficiency and maintenance.

Fun Fact: For those in the gaming world, it's been announced that the next main line Total War title is going to be "Total War: Three Kingdoms". The Total War team has always treated the subject culture with a rather naked lens, giving virtues and vices equal attention. Will they give China the same harsh but fair treatment? Or will they cave to the sensitivity of Chinese Feelings? Only time will tell!

Fair enough. Total War: Three Kingdoms will probably work out as past games were pretty alright on that front giving it a fair shake, but this is China so they are going to bitch about not pursuing Lui Bu or something. If Rome 2 is an indicator if might just be a poo poo game. Haven't played War Hammer version. Shogun 2 is dope.

They will inevitably make it pro-feelings, to cater to the huge Chinese gamer market.
