That's a fair point, although I'm not convinced either way, since I just don't have a grasp on how much knowledge (Chapter 5) the ILF had on Garellia and its procedures, or how the ILF obtained their knowledge in the first place. So statements like "they obviously knew EXACTLY how much time they had to make it look the attempt to fire the guns convincing without appearing to be stalling" lack foundation, at least to me. But oh well, we're not going to learn more about that, so no point thinking about that anymore. EDIT: Actually, I think the most conclusive piece of evidence supporting your point is something which happens in the first 10 minutes of the game: Sara sees the railway guns coming out of the hangars and wonders how they prepped them so fast - and if the ILF was just planning on firing without aiming at a target. If the ILF was actually intending on trying to assassinate Osborne with the cannons, they would have to aim, which would have taken longer. But the guns didn't even move before they fired - they weren't trying to aim at all.

Well how much aiming would they even need to do? Their entire purpose is to be pointed at Crossbell anyways. Then again I'm always someone who looks at how while C might not have been banking on the cannons actually being fired at the tower, V and S probably would've taken the shot if given the chance.

Any kind of forgiveness aimed at C comes from a place of pretty extreme denial I think. It's optimistic of them to want to help their friend but I think deep down they all know that even if they Reach C he's gonna go down pretty hard for what hes done.

I was pretty off board with all that stuff until the end of CS2 happened and flipped my whole opinion of the situation around.

CS2 is definitely the second half that CS1 needs to fully inform the relationship between the party and that character.

Just one, IIRC. (Sun ones are the minigames, right? Never did all levels of the quiz show...)

The quiz is an easy minigame to finish comparatively since you can just repeat it over and over again and eventually get all of the answers via trial & error if need be.

And yeah that quartz is ooof on a certain lategame party member addition.

Rean makes a point in CS2 that it isn't about being let off the hook, but rather about taking responsibility for the past and working to make amends. There's actually a case to be made that, to the imperial government, C would be of a lot more use alive than dead, because nobody else can pilot Ordine. Divine Knights are linked to their Awakeners, so if C dies, the Azure Knight could very well be a heap of inert metal for another few centuries. It's pointed out in CS2 that while Divine Knights aren't instant-win-buttons on the battlefield, they ARE huge gamechangers, at full power easily capable of demolishing a whole squadron of airships, tanks or ordinary Soldats. This is especially true for an ace pilot like C. It's not unreasonable to believe the imperial government might be open to the idea of sparing C's life in exchange for his service...having two Divine Knights on the frontlines would be a massive boon to the country's military might. On the other hand, it's also not unreasonable to believe C might opt to bite the bullet rather than willingly serve the government that annexed his home, no matter how much Rean and his classmates would try to talk him out of it.

Do all of the quiz minigame, if you finish the highest level you get the Time Gem, which is Cast 3.

Pretty close to. It's -15% to your Str, Def and Ats, so you'll do practically no physical damage, take more damage and unless you compensate with a Sapphire Gem, your arts will hurt a lot less, but it cuts casting time by 95%, which is enough to insta-cast all but the strongest arts.

Cast 3 is better on generalists that aren't really good at anything because it lets you vomit out support Arts like there's no tomorrow, including the earth one that makes everyone in the area be invincible for a hit

Renne is 12 years old and has three PhDs and she has literally the best orbment in the series AND she has the highest ATS of the whole party.

Also, if you're going to post about Olivier, you should at least spell his name right.

I really love how broken -50% recovery time after X arts is in Cold Steel 1. For example, on Alisa, she can cast two Dark Matters and still use a craft immediately afterwards. You don't have to choose between whether she supports with crafts or attacks with arts! I guess it's fixed a bit in CS 2 though.

I guess I already knew that. Sean Chipslock does a great job in that scene, you can hear the desperation in his voice.

the whole thing that made him a villain is that he didn't really care all that much if they were fired or not as long as osborne died eventually, same with starting a war

Yes (Space = Angel + Golden Bell) for a total of -100% recovery time. I also threw in the -25% casting time gem as well (Diabolos). I guess I COULD have used Emma, but I didn't want to.

Sean friggin' killed it in that last scene. That part alone is the ultimate counterargument for the tired old claim that Japanese voices always trump English ones.

im not gonna translate the entire thing, since who has time for that.

Most of it is just talking up Ys8 and explaining how its a great revolutionary title and boy ain't the switch gonna be a good platform for it.

It then talks about how basically Falcom's president and NIS' were acquaintances and after disgaea 5 sold well on switch they offered to port Ys 8 to switch for falcom. They say they would like to do further collaborations but they don't say anything concrete

(I am extremely happy to announce a collaborative project with Falcom. Not just for Ys fans, but for the sake of Nintendo fans, Falcom fans, and everyone, we would like to not only develop* Ys 8, but other titles as well)
