the NFL isn't tightly scripted. nobody really cares what the poo poo tier teams do. let the jags and the vikes shoot their shots. but by the time the conference finals roll around it will be clear that the NFL is scripted.

Pro Wrestling is less scripted than the NFL which is why the XFL re-birth will be the end of the NFL.

I prefer to think of it as a Whose Line Is It Anyway script, where everything's made up and the points don't matter. The Cleveland Browns are Colin Mochrie.

That’s just insulting to Colin Mochrie.

Yeah, the Browns are Tony Slattery. Excellent throughout the late 80's, then fell off throughout the early 90's only to disappear entirely for a few years, then come back in a greatly diminished role

Look at those NFC chumps, sweating it out on how to rotate fresh teams in year after year, how to gracefully give non playoff teams narrative focus time. I bet you think theres a lot of pride in that. Well We here in the AFC pride ourselves on different values, we believe in working 9-5 with two hour lunches, summer fridays, and in office alcohol available on demand.

Gruden's deal came with the promise of NFL support, so ESPN could dump his salary. Look for lots of pro-raider calls to come. Patriots "power struggle" story is fake news meant to drive interest in a dying franchise

As I noted above, the AFC writes the same drat story every season and whenever they write themselves into a corner they just go "A referee calls a penalty for the Pats" no matter how absurd the situation.

The NFL's script is like one of those rom coms where the lead is a real loser and jealous of their rival who seems to win at everything, but there's no plot development and it just stays that way the whole time. Certified fresh.

But, by giving the jobber team the upset today, no one will be surprised when the Pats win.
