You really should at least attack move during teamfights, very easy to get used to and it would let you deal a LOT more damage

Pro Moves is actually pretty neat too, though I'm not precisely sure when you'd take it. It makes bodyblocks way easier, you can just walk circles around someone while keeping pace with them.

Aside from the obvious times when the enemy team has rapid fire effects that will proc it like crazy (Nazeebo spiders, for instance, anyone with fire to stand in, Tracer) it pairs well with the giant defense matrix to help overcome the speed penalty.

drat that's a really good point.

For those who can't watch, basically he says that Raynor has a good winrate because he offers so little that he prevents you from doing a lot of the bad things more impactful heroes would have you do.

I took it as more of a Low Skill Floor/Low Skill Ceiling hero, so he's much better for Low Skill players.

I like Azmodan's playstyle but I'm pretty sure he has the weakest trait in the game since the ammo change (not counting Abathur's which is intentionally designed to be a liability). At least Tyrael's can theoretically get a kill. If you cast Azmo's D on a fresh wave it will beat the enemy wave just in time to meet the next one while standing under towers, meaning no structure damage will ever be done

How many games does it take to get to that high level anyways

I feel like it took forever to The Lost Vikings to 13 and they're tied for my highest level hero with Ragnaros and Tyrael.

Past level 10, it's ~10-12 game/level if you are on Stimpack, if I remember correctly. XP/level flattens out after 10.

Isn't that just another way of putting it? He said Raynor takes away your ability to make certain mistakes, while also saying Raynor is a glorified lane minion because of his lack of abilities.

I tried out some Sonya today and my god I am not good with her or possibly bruisers in general. I found it incredibly difficult to know when to engage. I found her quite weak to ranged dps even with the harpoon. I found she was all right for mercs, laning, and picking off people running away. I was using Grubby's general survival build. Basically unless I was playing very passive I was dying a lot, and constantly being taken out of my whirlwind. I didnt do much dps, I couldn't tank too much without popping my two armour skills, and I can't imagine how vulnerable she would be without taking that lvl 13 skill that lets you travel to with your chain regardless if you hit anything.

I'd actually like to see some discussion/advice about bruisers because they're one of the hero types I enjoy playing, but while I don't really have a ton of experience myself what I'd say here is that yeah, going toe to toe with a ranged assassin probably isn't Sonya's forte and you shouldn't try to force an engagement against one, especially if you're solo laning. The thing about bruisers is they aren't really DPS heroes exactly, what they do well is exert pressure through a combination of better-than-tank damage and self sustainability. You're a marathon runner, not a sprinter. When it comes to teamfights bruisers shouldn't really be the ones engaging imo because they tend to lack crowd control to kick things off, but looking for opportunities to pounce on someone that's out of position or already damaged to hammer them.

Also when you already have an actual main tank. Sonya, Zarya, Leoric, D.Va, etc. aren't really main tank material, but if you want a beefy frontline that doesn't sacrifice as much in the way of damage as running a double main tank setup then having a tank plus a bruiser is a good choice.

And if you want a strong solo laner. Contrary to popular belief specialists don't always make good solo laners, and not every assassin is suited to the task either though some can be.

So this was an interesting and illustrative game:

It was clear from the loading screen that their team was going to be better at teamfights and yep, look at those kills. And yep, a lot of those deaths are coming from me because that's what happens when you're a bruiser on a team with no real main tank but trying to tank anyway. However we actually wound up winning and fairly decisively because while they had much more killing power in brawls courtesy of stim drone Valla, Valeera being Valeera, Raynor and Hyperion, plus Misha stuns, they lacked the same degree of waveclear and pushing power. Early on in the game me and Nova hung around in a lane bullying Raynor and Valeera while Xul solo'd top and Ana kept Azmo topped up while he bolstered minion waves in every lane, then when we hit level 10+ rather than focus on trying to teamfight we simply went and hoovered up every merc camp we could while the other team kept trying to pick fights with us. We'd have a teamfight, they'd kill most of us and we'd kill a couple of them, occasionally we'd catch Raynor out of position and gank him, and there was one really bad engage I thought might wind up costing us, but in the end we managed to bring every building of theirs down while still retaining all of our keeps, even against several garden terrors, and in the end we got kills on Raynor and Rexxar which was enough to allow mercs and minions to bring down their core.

What's interesting is that while a lot of games I've played lately have been snowbally in terms of level one way or another this one stayed pretty constant. Neither team ever had a decisive level advantage over the other though we generally led in XP by a bit, like a half level or so, but our mercing and waveclear was enough to keep up with their kills, and in the end we won simply by not trying to seek some glorious manmode battle but just by playing to our comp's strengths. I don't usually say this about random quickmatch games but dang, I'm pretty proud of my team, they did really well in a situation I'm sure was frustrating at times (especially for that poor Xul who was a prime gank target because he kept overextending, but on the other hand he pretty much killed the entire top lane by himself, so).

I played her more tonight and I did a bit better when we had a tank, or the other team didn't have a tank. I was in a match with no assassins and no real tanks, I ended up being the tank and the dps, and it was fantastic. We had just enough CC to keep the enemy assassins annoyed and I got a bunch of fun kills. Chain jumping through a wall into people fleeing to spin and win was my favourite.

Dahaka is weird and I think I like him. Big lizard dog yoshi tonguing Genjis into the fort wall cannons to die. Bursting out of bushes to fart up a dark swarm at people. Tons of self healing. Really neat.

Just to emphasise this some guy has done a google sheet of all the good solo lane heroes and how they match up against each other. Zagara is the only specialist that makes the cut.

(Nazeebo gets a mention in the notes and he's ok but he can't bully people away from objectives very easily, which is why solo laning is a thing on two lane maps)

Note that Azmo / Nova is actually a legit combo that can be difficult for the enemy to deal with. Azmo provides global pressure that they need to answer and Nova can capitalize upon the enemy splitting to depush lanes. It looks like you did exactly that and it paid off. Meltdown is good, but Pyromania doesn't have nearly enough uptime for it to be really good. If New Habits permanently reduced the cooldown of Pyromania instead of incidentally, then Meltdown would be an amazing choice and worth taking. As it stands, Adhesive Petroleum is by far the strongest talent at Level 4 with Oil Dispersal trailing a close second.

Played a few more unranked games with a couple friends. For whatever reason I seem to be the team's banner in every single game, which seems weird considering I've never done ranked and have less than ten unranked games under my belt. Did the best I could with banning, usually trying to deprive them of meta tanks or supports, but I don't really know what I am doing apart from that.

I have found that the games in which I ETC go much better than the games in which I don't. The games where I am a late pick and can't grab him have generally been losses, aside from one game where we won with me as Jaina.

Finished the night with a couple cho-gall quickmatch games, which were crushes. In the final game I taken 85% of teamfight damage. I've never seen that statistic so high before. I feel like QM as cho-gall is just bowling at Hanzos and Novas.
