Yeah I'm not trying to make a moral judgment of it, but it, like the politics of most good writers, is strongly opinionated, even if its not exactly my bag. I can see where he's coming from.

I don't think the Teg imprinting is So bad. They're pretty conflicted about it, and even Odrade is like 'drat, are we nothing but voyuers? Why is it so spicy back here?'. Because he's so young, I think it's worse hrs being awakened at all. It's like killing a toddler persona, because how could it stand up to hundreds of years if miles teg?

If nothing else, we get the line 'Do you think my mother didn't protect me from women like you?'

E: also, did you know the name of the old fairies somewhere in europe(?) Is the Tylwyth Teg? Ever since I learned that, I've wondered if there's an underground connection between Teg and the Tlelax

EE: also, when taraza is doing the final interview on Odrade before approving her for the ghola project, she looks at her bio and notes that some of her babies had been quietly executed for being too cool

Yeah, like I'm far from left wing, but I immensely enjoy Kim Stanley Robinson's books because they are just good books. And I mean they're good in part because of his politics, it's not like I'm reading them and all of a sudden "drat it, here's some more socialism," *brain turns off*

Anything that makes me think is good for me, whether I agree with it or not.

the BG had basically instantly picked up Leto's genealogy notes and started obsessively tracking anyone in the atreides line and yeah they whiffed a bunch of people if they showed precient ability. every one got tested for it, even Teg remembers it.

Watching Lynch's D U N E for the 7583'rd time thanks to this thread. Not even watching; I've seen it so many times I can throw it on with the volume maxed out, and putter around the whole house and see Max Von Sydow in my head saying "As for their relation to the spice... who knows?" with perfect clarity.

What I'm saying is, this is my favorite film ever, klutzy as it is. Much like my posting

Yes, but are the BGs goals as altruistic as they claim and would the intended KH have led humanity down the path that Paul did? Is the path humanity has taken by the end of the series even good?

Personally, I imagine that the KH being born according to the BG's plans would play out broadly similarly to the books, insofar as I imagine a precognizant godman would figure out right quick that they want him to be a puppet and launch his own bid for power.

harlan ellsion is wrong that they shouldn't have tried to make a D U N E movie; they should make as many high budget DUNE movies as possible imo, forever and ever

I think the BG would want to keep the current stagnation in place. They might slightly move pieces around the table but the heirarchy would have stayed basically undisturbed. After all, they're in a pretty good spot right now, and when you're close enough to the top you're averse to anything that rocks the boat TOO much.

Alright so I'm really confused about how multiple people have talked about The Jesus Incident but no one has mentioned Destination: Void, the much more compact and tightly written (and not coauthored) Herbert book that preceded it and set up the whole subsequent trilogy.

I'm going to straight up admit that I read all four of those books and I have only the vaguest memory of what they were even about. My eyes slid across the pages and the words entered my brain, but I apparently did not engage with them at all.
