Nier: Automata update: I have been playing for two days now. Just finished Adam and Eve first encounter? Already got an idea where the game is going story wise I think. Specially after watching the Alien and Bladerunner series recently. Keep wanting to play more because of the world but drat the game looks and controls like a PS3 title and has slow down on my Pro. Also, why do I suck so bad at this game. I even die on easy...am I supposed to enable a chip so it auto fights for me or were you guys exaggerating. Anyways, can't wait to finish it one time through and get to the David Icke parts. btw music is my favourite part of this game. I want the soundtrack!

I got a Slim and I don't think I ever had any slowdown issues with Automata, are there any other apps open while you're gaming? As for being bad at combat, the game pretty much incentives you to "cheat" by giving you greatly overpowered chips. There's stuff, like, regaining health after killing, regaining health after hitting an attack and even regaining health just by standing still. Hit that dodge button more often too, there's literally no downside.

No slowdown on my PSProle, you might want to clean the dust out of your system. Map dodge to your easiest button to tap constantly while doing other things.

You're still just getting started, people have posted in here about beating multiple arcs of the game before figuring out to upgrade/apply chips.

Who was the guy who made it all the way through Ico not knowing you could hold the princess' hand? Anyway you've got that guy beat at least. My friend and I also once made it halfway through FF8 not even knowing how junctions worked so don't feel too bad.

Housh posted:Yeah. I didn't know about the whole chip system until now and how you have to activate things. Have fun! There's some super cool combinations of stuff you can to depending on your play style. You can break the game. For example. Health on kill counts for EVERY enemy in the smup sections. Which is insane. You almost can't die if you have it on. Also you can unattach your hud features individually to get some extra room if you want. A diegetic reason and reward for playing hudless? Nier is so good

You can beat Neir without messing with your chips. It's just an accidental Dark Souls fist only run.

Not knowing to hold her hand means that you have to complete every puzzle in the game with her standing in the absolute worst possible place and then if I'm remembering correctly just hoping she'll follow you.

Bombadilillo posted:You can beat Neir without messing with your chips. It's just an accidental Dark Souls fist only run. Yeah, I knew about chips but never messed with them because I never bothered to open up more chips space. I just bought 100 potions and ingrained into myself how to use them on the fly. Like almost everything in NieR:A I think the chips system is brilliant both thematically and as a dynamic difficulty adjustment concession to players of different skill levels. That game owns so loving hard. fruit on the bottom posted:Like playing Bloodborne without ever learning how to parry I think a more accurate analogy is like playing Bloodborne without knowing how to Quick-Step.
