Very impressive, all the clues seem to just slide nicely into place, unlike solutions I've seen here for some of the other puzzles.

Is this the one where they stand in the middle of four trees and line up the water spray with somethjng else? Because that's totally the best proposed solution for any of then.

Prompted me to review all the texts to see if there are any other clues about perspective, but results were lacking

Big news posted by four21thrasher at Q4t:

Josh and the crew of Expedition Unknown are releasing a 12-installment Podcast in coordination with James Renner exploring the puzzles within The Secret. You can access the first episode of James Renner's podcast at the following location: http://thesecretofbyronpreiss.com/podcast/shhh-the-secret-podcast-episode-1

I listened to this podcast, and was surprised by how interesting it was. It basically foreshadows that there will be 12 more podcasts (one for each of the proposed "treasure" locations)... and that there is an entire group of people (including the two men that found the treasure in Chicago) that are focusing on the search by starting over by scratch, and treating each puzzle as exactly that... a puzzle to be solved. I recommend it, should you have about an hour to kill, or so.

Now the question I'm having is... how does one obtain the passwords to access the solution methodologies for each city link listed on this site? Maybe they'll be giving them out in future podcasts...but as of current they all seem locked up.

Is this Burnstyle from the the podcast? If so, that's really cool. If this is you... I tend to agree with your general approach of simple explanations potentially being the best. The tall grass comment had me smirking a bit. Preiss must have thought these would be found very... very fast.

In the latest podcast I also liked the general consensus of some sort of landmark in each painting (except for maybe a few) that you went a direction from... and then the actual poem became linked to where you are, starting at some point straight away from that landmark. The poem itself leads you to the exact spot... and in itself, doesn't cover particularly much ground. I'm blanking on the exact term here. It's not landmark... but... icon?

I'm looking forward to hearing more about the puzzle styles discussed in the first two podcasts (rebus, etc.) possibly being being new (and more proper) methodologies towards finding these "treasures".

Heading to Chicago in the next few months for a work related thing. I plan on just going over to Grant Park and witnessing where that treasure was found. I've been to Chicago a few times, but never checked out that particular spot.

I am the burnstyle from the podcast.

Yeah that way of solving the puzzles seems to work everywhere except St Augustine.

It worked particularly well in one area which we are going to dig very soon.

I heard once that st Aug was the first one buried, and the silver salt casque at the fountain of youth was where he stole the word casque. If that's true it would make sense that st Aug would be a bit different... Because he wouldn't have had a system yet.

And the casks were ceramic, weren't they? Being buried in prominent/landscaped places, most of them were probably destroyed decades ago.

But seeing as this has been at least a 5 year obsession for some posters, my main question is why in all this time no company jumped on the opportunity to start a new treasure hunt, with similar visual clues, etc. Obviously the demand is there. (My apologies if this has been discussed a million times, I'm not going to read through hundreds of pages in a thread I last looked at several years ago.)

There are and have been plenty of other treasure hunt things, the interest in this is largely because of how long most of the puzzles have gone unsolved, not in spite of it.

Also, it's good this thread is still here so I can tell Xie to suck my cock every few years when it resurfaces.

Tried to check the wiki to see about Cask 6, buuut it's dead. It's definitely St Augustine though, the shell bit probably refers to Castillo de San Marcos (since that's what is made from), and there's a little conquistador statue (similar to the one in the picture) nearby at Plaza de la Conquistador.

Wish I lived down there... It'd be cool to poke at the trees with something like ground penetrating radar (assuming there's even some affordable consumer model out there yet).

Would also be cool if someone with some money would buy up the original gems or something similar and front them as a reward.

I've gone through a lot of the foy with a gpr... And haven't found anything.
The wiki page is screwy, they seem to be focused on Anastasia state park... Because they think the teardrop line refers to teardrop shapes campers. It's retarded... But that's where they are at.

Its rumored that ibooks (the new publisher bought new gems, or will buy a gem for anyone that solves a puzzle... But that's not confirmed.

Boy, I think it's about time I tell you the difference between a man and a woman. A woman isn't a woman unless she's pretty. And a man isn't a man unless he's ugly.
Why won't the artist say where the casks are buried? Does he still expect people to go into national parks and start digging? That kind of thing isn't allowed anymore.

I know the pictures are baller. The whole treasure hunt is legitimately, neat as gently caress. Unfortunately it also happened 30 years ago. I'm saying somebody ought to put a similar level of artistry/effort into another very difficult treasure hunt that might actually be solvable.
