google search and google maps are the two good google products (i'd toss in google scholar as rather indispensable, but that's pretty niche) , so many other more clearly terrible ones to choose from if one wants to complain~

i used waze on a lark on a trip a few weeks ago and it worked well enough and being alerted to cops is nice. but the voice nav is so loving stilted, like it's babbies first gps. and i'm like "wait a second, google owns this poo poo, why haven't they rolled it into maps yet?"

back when i owned an android phone i would say "ok google navigate home" or i would put "home" into the search bar and google maps would decide that i meant the city of home, washington maybe 30% of the time and refuse to resolve to the address i'd already configured as home. it wouldn't wipe out my current home address and it would get fixed a few days later but it's still incredibly bizarre that google would let that happen so often

map apps should have a "minimize tolls" option in the same way that Waze has an option selection for dirt roads which has "allow", "avoid long", and "don't allow".

there's a python thing on github you can download that will take all the roads in a specified area and calculate how twisty they are (average radius of curvature and number of inflections per linear mile) and plot it on a map so that you can pick the twistiest roads to ride on your motorcycle or drive in your lotus. wish google would add that one. maybe i'll just port it into a lovely android app myself
