I mean if their comp has some gnarly rear end illegal poo poo it's probably actually good that someone finds it so those fuckers get locked up just, y'know, hope it's someone else who finds it so you don't have to see it yourself

I doubt he'd have done that if he was concerned about the stack). Grabbing the handle is how you get out of that seat.

He opened it, found an unlabelled CD, said "I wonder what it is...can you put it in the computer back there and find out?"...a moment later I had to come back and tell him, truthfully, that it was a file named <CleverGrannyPornNameICan'tRemember>.mpg and no I wasn't going to go any further with it. It was fun to watch him stammer red-faced about how he didn't order that, how did it come to his address, it was a mistake, no wait, it was a prank, etc etc while I'm like "dude, this isn't even the third weirdest thing to happen this week, now take your granny porn and go"

Last Wednesday, I investigated a frozen pipe rupture, which occurred in the morgue of a large funeral home.

If I was working on someone's computer and found illegal porn I'd almost certainly just let it go because they can always just argue that I put it on there myself. Then I'm stuck in a giant legal clusterfuck and/or beaten to death.

Actually, if you are working on someone's computer and find illegal porn and the person is later found out, and it's demonstrated that you saw it but didn't tell anyone, you can be charged as an accessory to the crime. Also good for you letting a pedophile keep on doing what they're doing and all

Strudel Man posted:Huh. I was aware of mandated reporting in the context of people who directly interact with kids, teachers and such. Didn't realize it extended to computer techs, too. I’m no lawyer, but I think a technician would escape an accessory conviction if they dropped everything and handed the computer back the moment they found the incriminating material. They would still be looking at the failure to report in jurisdictions where that is a crime. A person could open themselves to accessory charges by moving, destroying, or hiding the files, or even by repairing the computer. Platystemon has a new favorite as of 10:33 on Jan 22, 2018 |

Well ~actually~ I believe you do build more muscle by doing fewer reps of a heavier load than more reps of an easy weight. Something about having to overload your muscles to cause growth. That said I doubt it works very well when you press your knees into position with your hands and only do 5cm of movement because it's too heavy to fully extend and contract your legs more than once
