sites are just incredibly bad across the board about handling foreign news or media when it comes to contextualizing, researching, or even just properly translating stuff. This isn't anime but I remember when PCgamer was reporting on European lootbox stuff and their source was literally Google translate (surprise: they got the story wrong).

Gakuen Babysitters started off well enough, but episode three introduces a character who gets nosebleeds when interacting with or thinking about kids, and whose friend pulls him away, calls him a deviant, and says to stay away from his little brother. At least that's one less show to keep up with this season.

The Colonel posted:symphogear axz loving owns and has one of the best villain teams in the entire show, especially cags I decided after GX that I was done with Symphogear, both because nothing in the season was all that great past the first five minutes and because I had reached saturation point with Hibiki's melodrama. I liked that she tries to appeal to people to not do what they're doing, and to talk and hold hands instead. I even like that she kept trying repeatedly throughout the original and G despite it not working until she had beaten the subject in question in to silence in some manner. I got sick of it by GX though. It didn't help that Carol's motive was idiotic and literally every moment she was on screen I kept thinking "yea, that's obviously not what your dad wanted". I know she had some kind of memory deficiency, but that doesn't make my internal monologue go away. She acted as though she had a 12 years olds understanding of the world, which would be fine if she was 12, but the show kept reminding me she's actually a nigh-immortal magician who only looks 12 but can morph in to an adult when and as she pleases. That GX ended with Hibiki crying in to a sink because she felt useless did not bode well for it's sequel and I decided I was done with it. The show had multiple other problems between antagonists not appearing (the big sister who attacked the sub off screen), antagonists not having much in the way of character (all the dolls to some degree), antagonists all telegraphing that they wanted the main cast to upgrade to new forms and commit death by song after they did so that it never felt like the cast earned any win and I didn't even like the upgraded black forms they got. I vaguely recall feeling like Carol got off scott free for essentially nuking a city as well. And finding the finale to be a weaker version of GX's, with everyone standing around and lending Hibiki their "energy" while she shoots a single big fist instead of the previous seasons two big fists doing a Heaven & Hell. Hibiki herself was the main issue in the season to me though. Unless Hibiki realized that it's fine to try and reach the people doing bad things or change their minds, but that if they're not listening it's worth stopping them and then talking to them afterwards instead I don't have any interest in AXZ. And she might, I never checked. Oh, and Ver can go gently caress himself. I realize most people love him, and I did to. In G. I got sick of him when he popped up for no real reason in GX though, and I hear he pops up again in AZX and I'm tired of him.

ver pops up for literally two seconds as a figment of someone's mind. he gets two lines and then he disappears for the rest of the season

Hibiki’s the coolest and is always correct and the best and she continues to empathise with everyone and wants to come to an understanding with her enemies without having to punch them and it’s cool and good. Also the scene of her being consoled by Miku at the end of GX is very good and is followed by a scene showing she was successful after all and did save Carol which leads to Elfnein being saved as well, reaffirming that Hibiki’s got the right idea of things.

Disagree. Her continuing to stall on fighting someone because she doesn't want to hurt people means that she enables things like a city getting nuked through inaction. It's fine to empathize with villains and to want to talk to them and help them and understand them, it's even laudable to try to do so without fighting, but if they show a desire to continue to do bad things despite you and your intentions then not acting is bad too. Which doesn't change that she felt that she was nothing but a weapon and showed that she was probably going to be angsty past that point regardless of evidence to the contrary or what her friends and support circle did, at least for a while.

She only really stalls when fighting in like episode 2 once she finds her singing voice again she doesn’t half rear end her punches. She just doesn’t let that stop her from empathising while fighting. Also she doesn’t really do much angsting in AXZ so that’s not a problem.

Hibiki tries to reason with the AXZ antagonists but she never actually fails to fight them at any point, they mostly have arguments while punching each other. It's the antagonists who stand down the couple of times a fight breaks down, if anything. AXZ is definitely better than GX though it still has problems with needing to force in a fight every episode and a couple of character arcs having weird resolutions, but it's at least better than GX about making the protagonists just completely incapable of doing anything, and it especially doesn't have the dumb plot point of the minor villains wanting to die thus rendering the entire first ten episodes pointless. Up to you if you wanna watch it or not, though. Also, the weirdest part of the Love Live Lore is the early novels and stuff where Maki is the one that randomly gropes boobs.

I watched all four seasons of Symphogear over the course of like three days a couple months ago when I had the flu, and it is the best anime and AZX is absolutely the best season. Also, after watching two episodes of Killing Bites nothing will convince me it wasn't made in 1988 as an OVA and just sealed up in a time capsule for 30 years.

Sometimes that works in it's favor, but I dunno if I want to stick it out through the whole thing.
