i think shawshank is an okay movie

don't really get the hype, but i've never actually seen it in one straight go. I've pieced it together over the years from like 20 minutes at a time on tbs

I remember watching it a little because I missed Scrubs and it kinda had a similar feel but was not nearly as good.

football.

Shawshank is one of my favorite movies. I find prison endlessly fascinating and one of my biggest fears is being put away for a crime I did not commit.

It's such a quotable movie. I worked an awful job for 5 years that I really hated. Me and one of my coworkers quoted the movie all the time. We'd be on his smoke break and I'd go, "You think you'll ever get out of this place?"

Sometimes I would sit at my desk and just go, "Zihuatanejo..." lol

It's funny because I was always Andy and he was Red. I got out and that poor bastard is still working there.

Anyways this is my life philosophy.

Season 1 suffered from network meddling in the show's identity but after that it's basically Wine Time, a bunch of friends drinking wine and doing goofy suburban poo poo. It's pretty good.

Years back my friend's roommate made us watch that crappy What the Bleep Do We Know "documentary" and it features a framing narrative with Marlee Matlin. They got really annoyed when I blurted out "Oh, it's that deaf woman" because, as it turns out the entire thing is shot in such a way that there's no on screen clue that she's deaf until the very end and the roommate thought it would be a huge twist to us. Not the worst idea, but if you want it to be a twist don't cast someone who is by far the most famous deaf actor and probably the most famous deaf person since Helen Keller. She has an Oscar and 4 Emmy nominations, she was a regular guest star on one of the most watched TV dramas at the time.

Yeah, I mean, if Corky could be on Life Goes On 25 years ago no excuse for not casting an appropriately disabled actor for a role.

I remember the episode after he's married and is maybe having an affair or getting sweet with a lady not his wife and goes home to have undercooked noodles and says 'Crunch noodles again!' so angrily and me and my siblings laughing and saying that to each other still to this day.

They did cast an appropriately disabled actor, but they cast probably the only deaf actor they could think of off the top of their head. There has to be more than one deaf actor.

On the upside the movie is dumb and stupid and ruining the "twist" at the end probably kept a couple people from thinking it was smarter than it was by giving it some points for a surprise ending.
