A snake isn't strong enough to squeeze the life out of you, it's only strong enough to block the muscles that expand your chest. Constricting snakes don't kill their prey by squeezing them to death, they just ratchet down every time the prey exhales then hold steady when the prey tries to inhale. It only takes a couple of rounds of this (i.e. your breaths) until you cannot expand your chest to inhale, due to the rigid snake body in the way. There's little direct pressure applied to the body of the prey, but asphyxia is the outcome nonetheless. I once handled a small boa, only about 1m long, and let it wrap itself around my forearm. I tensed and relaxed my forearm muscles in a way that I was trying to simulate my arm breathing - the snake tightend down on every "exhalation" and stayed perfectly still on every "inhalation" - after about three or four rounds I couldn't tense up my muscles anymore but if I was relaxed it was not painfully tight at all. I got out of that by unhooking the snake's tail from around my elbow - they need that hook to tighten and as soon as I popped that off the snake uncoiled completely from my arm. It had not occurred to me before that this means there are few or no signs of constriction on the prey's body if the snake doesn't swallow the prey for some reason and you decided to investigate. I guess if you could find a way to motivate an individual snake to constrict a particular individual human it would make a pretty good murder weapon, given the lack of clear evidence. Though that method of death seems pretty hard to acheive any other way.
