we have something like that in the community where i work. a little site condominium. only one street, but everyone also has frontage on the airstrip and a hangar in their yard. it's ~*private*~

Once you get to a certain point in the hierarchy people quit giving a poo poo about your hours, and that's well before you own the whole company

An excusable whoosh. The alien ships in the scientology book looked a lot like DC8s.

FAA's probably afraid he'll try flying it into a volcano again

Oh, hah, right. I'm too much of a plane sperg to register that one. The DC-8 and 707 are from a similar era and look very similar to one another so I was sure that there was just some confusion here and I needed to ensure that everyone was correct

i swear i dont know how this poo poo works sometimes. my wife (who isn't a citizen), my son, and i flew overseas from o'hare earlier this year. when we got to security, they suddenly opened up an extra lane and the tsa agent waved us over. carry on went up on the conveyor, without taking our tablets out, and we just strolled through the metal detector, shoes on and all. literally took two minutes to clear security. very weird poo poo.

the precheck stations also aren't open during off-peak hours at some airports, although that's probably not an issue at large airports like LAS and SFO

i've taken raw circuit boards, loose nimh AA batteries and up to five ham radios in my carry-on before with no hitch, but my last flight i forgot to take my magic trackpad out of my bag and they freaked out on the x-ray because it was 'bigger than a smartphone' and tried to figure out what it was for 5 mins before explosives swabbing all my poo poo

my brother was taking home a video card in his carryon bag and one security guy initially thought it was a cpap machine and even after explaining what it was they ended up swabbing everything to check for explosives.
