I do change it...honest...just not as much as I should. The macro is just to get it out of "flight" mode with all pips to eng/sys and no weps.

And yeah, even on the X52 there are a few dials I just never use/bind.


Unless you have VR, this is unironically the best way to see most of the thargoid content. If you want to actually fight thargoids, get on the discord and get some wingmates since it's basically a raid and very difficult to solo.

for serious once you get a big ship with lots of efficiency modded in its easy to get lazy with the pip awareness in combat, then you step back into something smaller/stock fitted and wonder where your laser beams are :o:

Land on planets, fine tune your ships with engineers, interact with alien race. As for spacecash most people suggest the "Road to Riches" exploration thingie.

Road to riches or whatever passenger route is jumping at the time (you'll want to bust up to a bigger ship to make it really worth it but that will happen more sticky than you think), I had luck with Parutis (Evans Station) to Medb (Vela Dock), but that seems to have dried up/been "fixed"

Really, if you can get max rep with the locals in any two adjacent systems you can get a profitable passenger loop going. It's just a matter of getting two systems with convenient stations, few to no planetary bases, and lots of local factions. Either what I just typed is good advice or I just got really lucky with mine and didn't realize it.

Been playing around with engineer upgrades in beta and a lot of recipes are significantly better now. Efficient beams are particulary crazy: -60% thermal load, -48% power draw -45% distributer draw, and +24% damage per second. Like holy poo poo.

Also with some strategic use of light weight upgrades and experimental effects, I managed to squeeze my corvette's jump range up to about 19.6ly while still being completely loaded with A ranked modules, military armor, hull reinforcements, etc. all engineered for combat. The biggest save is going lightweight on that stupid 160 ton A rank sensor array. It might even be worth swapping to D rank and living with crappy short-range sensors. It would be amazing to be able to use the long-range sensors instead, but +100% mass on that thing murders your jump range.

Looks like my gimmick Corvette just turned into a murderboat with it's non-stop discoball!

Also, give up on making the corvette jump and just resign yourself to shipping it everywhere or schlepping 60 jumps.

I'll be happy if I can hit 20ly without compromising on staying power in a fight. That seems to be about the threshold below which you start to get a double-whammy because you can't get a route plotted without including lots of awkward jumps significantly below your max range.

Are you talking PVP or PVE? Because if you're doing PVP: what is your fitting because I wanna see.

If you are doing PVE: gently caress it dude, just uparmor the basic lightweight, get a fast recharge biweave, and go full dakka with all lightweight MCs! :sun:

When AI pirates stick me up while I'm mining, are they wanting me to jettison x tons of whateverite or jettison (abandon) x tons? I'm thinking just paying tax is quicker than fighting every single dude who mugs me, but so far they've just said something like "it's gonna take more than that," so I try to pay in lasers and hot lead and the whole experiment just ends.

False. It's bugged or not otherwise working as intended; often they'll go 'I'm sure you can do better than that', wait a bit, and start shooting. Even when you have absolutely nothing in your cargo hold. I think it's got to do with pirate wings, so while one goes to scoop the cargo the rest get pissed because they didn't get any.

The Beta Wheeeee! Bonanza this weekend is good and fun.

I made a Cutter with efficient beam turrets and a huge PAC under the nose and took it into combat zones. It was fun. I blew a lot of iron engineering this.

I also made an FDL with four gimbaled shock cannons and a huge fixed cannon under the nose and it was fun. I blew the last of my iron on this.

How are the shock cannons? They seemed like a neat idea but I'm not sure what niche they're supposed to fill between PACs and incendiary multicannons.

The shock cannons are different but they really feel good to use. They have a lot of jitter, fire one shot per trigger pull, but can fire as quickly as we can pull the trigger, so when we have a good volley, we can put out a LOT of damage in a very short time.

They are maybe more like something in between a cannon and a frag cannon?

I'm okay with giving assassins or traders who want to go armed tools to do that. It also means that these won't be able to gank everything because they have insane DPS. RES farming is the least of the combat scenarios in this game.
