Controversial and Correct: Clamato is 100% better than V8. The Clamato, tequila, Steel Reserve and Twangerz cocktails I love will never stop loving me.

Never.

E: Sometimes I throw two raw eggs in that cocktail if it's early. It's just a texture you can taste if you don't chug fast enough.
E2: I want friends like chitoryu that have too much wine and wanna share.

My hangover cure is Powerade and complaining. I also keep a bottle of water at the bedside anyway because I suffer from dry mouth when waking up so it helps keep the dehydration down.

Still need a fellow alcoholic to get through this wine with me because I bought a bunch of bottles without considering them going bad a week after opening.

Cannot find a pic, but the italian/cajun place near me sells bottles of pickle juice for hangover time. Will eventually try one, probably when I hit them up for brunch soon.

Pickle juice cures cancer. I keep the big ballpark jars of pickles around for hangovers/hockey games/a snack. I'm not entirely sure I know how to live without a few slugs of pickle juice a day. I realize I don't sound reasonable after admitting to Clamato abuse, but pickle juice is great.

I've been trying to reproduce it ever since, and never thought to, you know, just ask him before he passed away. :arghfist::smith:

e. Also I discovered the joy of thai chilies the other day. I took a bite out of one, and that hurt, in a good way.

The AFP is going to be when, knowing me, I go way overboard the first time I cook with them, and end up burning off a few layers of tissue in my mouth and esophagus.

I've seen it at Woodman's, which is this warehouse-style grocery store chain in Illinois and Wisconsin. They seem to have two or three times the selection of the typical supermarket (or more), so they have a lot of stuff that I've rarely or never seen elsewhere.

I should have been more specific. Yes, those exist, but they are frozen. I want the cookie to be hot, the sauce to be room temp, the ice cream to be cold. That's why the ice cream would have to be put on as a pre-frozen disk.

Maybe put fruit on top of the ice cream too.

Cookie Time cookies are the perfect size for this, and have proper chocolate chunks not chocolate chips. Cookie Time forever :swoon:.

Also it's neither pizza nor AFP but homemade brownies crumbled in to a bowl, zapped then covered in ice cream and chocolate sauce are the reason why I'm so very fat. I'm ok with this.

Edit: also also,

sounds like he was probably making a virgin V8 bloody mary (they can be delicious).

try adding worcestershire and maybe tabasco to your attempts -- or other bloody mary additions that aren't as common - garlic or onion powder, perhaps -- was it shaken?

my "hangover cure" is slamming a pint or two of cold water, taking a hot finished with cold shower, and getting on with my life

i don't get the headaches/sensitivity, though, just the dehydration and general sense of filthiness from the night before

needless to say i drink when it's potentially feasible

Sorry, but eel catches are down 80% since the 1980s, and the number of eel larvae that finds their way back to Europe from the Sargasso sea down 99%. It's on the red list as Critically endangered globally. The European eel is protected in Sweden, with only a few fishers allowed an exception for cultural reasons, like the ålagille in Skåne.

If everyone could just not eat eel for a couple of years they might come back. They're not extinct yet.

The Illinois ones are all in the northern part of the state (two outside of Chicago, I think, and one in Rockford); and then in Wisconsin they span a pretty large area of the state. If you happen to be near one on a trip I would say it's worth checking out, and maybe seeing if they have anything else that you can't find elsewhere.
