Like a lot of things in The Baffler, this is frustrating, because it's mostly great and right and yet a little bit extremely wrong. You can demand better Democratic leadership without suggesting that a president without a college diploma would somehow be a good thing. Experienced, educated, "high-quality" candidates and progressive ideas are not incompatible. Bernie went to the University of Chicago. There's also plenty of great political science to deploy against La Raja and Rauch.

Pretty much. I'd take a day laborer with a fifth grade education whose plan of "Homez! Rodes!! Schols!!" is crudely drawn with crayons on construction paper over some well credentialed pod person whose been groomed to view politics as a gentlemanly game of personal advancement between aristocrats and that better things are both wrong and not possible.

It doesn’t say that at all, it says that liberal ‘meritocrats’ who have only achieved that status by legacy class inheritance aren’t any better than someone with no meritocratic credentials at all

People like to pretend the GOP is no more ideology than the pursuit of power and greed, and living in a society bloated on liberalism’s ‘marketplace of ideas’ goes a long way to dulling awareness of the social darwinism virtual intrinsic to the Republican party for nearly a century.

We're never getting healthcare again, lol.

That shitass, bitchass site posted:

Let’s change the conversation and put health care over politics.

United States for Care is a new movement to ensure that every single American has access to quality, affordable health care regardless of health status, social need, or income.

As a country, we can only realize that goal if we have the will to overcome partisan politics and work together to develop solutions that are fair, practical, and address the underlying affordability of health care.

It’s time to create a system that’s better for everyone. We have to start working now if we’re going to be ready to seize the moment in the coming years to enact lasting policies that make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.

A diverse group of Americans has put politics aside and come together to launch United States of Care.

It won’t be easy, but America is up to the challenge. Together, we can do this.

I am madly in love with the cynical use of diversity, really fits with the empty sentimental buzzwords and the kind of technocratic language that only appeals to the people who get paid to nibble on their own dicks all day and write op-eds about it for major American newspapers.

Oh my loving god. Yes, the right thing to do right now in terms of fighting for a better healthcare policy is to join an organization that includes not only a bunch of CEOs, but also people like Douglas Holtz Eakin, Bill Frist, Gail Wilenski... all people who have openly talked about eliminating or reducing coverage for the ACA, medicare and so on. And Job Favreau is either an imbecile or a really bold liar. Oh yeah, I am for medicare for all, which is why I am joining this organization co-founded by the guy who wrote a bill to privatize medicare.
