Dr. Gitmo Moneyson posted:I finally got a Switch yesterday. I can’t wait to set it up. best way to enjoy BotW is to follow the main quest for the first few hours until you get the camera and photo album, and then go do whatever the gently caress you want for 100 hours Sonic Mania is in the eShop. 'virtual console' just refers to official emulated versions of old Nintendo console games, it's not the same thing as the eShop, which exists.

Dr. Gitmo Moneyson posted:Also how do I play Sonic Mania, because last I checked the Switch didn’t have Virtual Console but it’s a download-only game? Sonic Mania is a new game, you just grab it from the Switch's eShop. Virtual Console is Nintendo's branding for emulating games that were on old consoles, which you're right, isn't available on Switch yet. (Hamster's Arcade Archives are worth checking out, especially in this vacuum.)

The Switch has an eShop. Sonic Mania is on that. It's not a port of an old game so it wouldn't be a virtual console game anyway. Virtual console is just a brand name, they sell tons of old arcade games on the eShop they just don't use the moniker anymore.

As for a spoiler free Zelda guide, honestly whatever $20 officially licensed one they have at GameStop is probably pretty good about that.

Using a guide to 100% BOTW while remaining spoiler free is kind of missing the point. The exploration and various stuff in the nooks and crannies of the world are what you want to avoid spoiling. The actual plot is so straightforward that it's almost impossible to spoil.

The adventure and experiencing of it all on your own is the fun part, not knowing what's over that mountain or under that rock (it's a korok ) and then going off in another direction at something interesting looking in the distance. Any guide or spoilers for BotW would be injurious to the experience. Go in as blind as possible and just do whatever to get the most out of it. It is curiosity driven and following a list of any kind seems antithetical to it's intent.

Yeah I never even looked up a guide or anything until I felt like I needed help finding the last 10-15 shrines. And that was well after I had beaten the main story.

Disc Jam is kind of neat. It's not quit as addicting as Rocket League and the customization isn't as rewarding. But the games are quick and can get pretty tense during a good volley. Controls aren't super precise but I was playing handheld. Portability really helps this title. If you like RL and liked Windjammers this is a good buy for $15.

Yeah, a guide would make it very unfulfilling. The collectibles aren't so much a challenge as they are a reward for being curious. If you had a 100% guide (which as everyone has said would be sheer madness) you'd just be beelining for objectives, turning the game into a pure walking simulator.

I seem to have run into ANOTHER crippling bug in Skyrim. I started a new character after the "Liberate Skyrim" quest bugged out on my main character. On this new character, who is a battle-mage with a conjuration specialty, I am convinced that the Conjuration Master in the College of Winterhold is gone. From the wiki, he sleeps in his room at night and then spends the majority of the day in the Arcaneum. I have searched both of these locations at all hours and he is nowhere to be found. Of course this happens on the character specializing in Conjuration and would be the second time I am basically forced to restart. Is anyone else having a lot of issues with Skyrim on the Switch? The thing that sucks is I absolutely love the game and am having a blast, but its pretty demoralizing losing my progress.

There’s a reason many people prefer the pc version where you can fix that stuff with the developer console or mods.

I just got a Switch a few weeks ago, and it’s been loving fantastic. Haven’t had a gaming PC in 5 or 6 years, and outside of the new 3ds, haven’t had a new console since the 360/Wii generation. I’ve played about 90% handheld and its been awesome performance and convenience-wise, since my gaming time is limited as a parent of a toddler and owner of 2 dogs. BOTW is incredible, and I will fully echo the Just Explore crowd. I’ve been taking my time and just wandering around the map, checking out new areas, shrines, climbing poo poo for fun, and am just now approaching the third dungeon after many hours of play. I’ve played just about every single Zelda game there is, and this is exactly the direction I had hoped this series would take. So good. Odyssey and portable Stardew are also excellent, and it sounds like I need to get on the Bayonetta 2 train. Loved the first game, excited to gear that the sequel improved on it. Does Dark Souls remaster mean that DS3 is eventually coming to Switch? Haven’t played that one yet after being obsessed with 1/2.
