Although Jim from Virginia calling in to ask about Serena Deeb getting FIRED and then John from Arkansas insisting that Maryse was once suspended for being too pretty were pretty amazing runners-up to the bizarreness category today.

Not a wrestling podcast per se but "Turned Out a Punk" is a podcast about how people got into punk and how it has shaped their lives, and the host likes to talk to wrestlers about the "wrestle punk connection" - he did a good one with Rocky Romero this week, did another good one with Matt Cross last year and there are others.

I would buy one of Dave's prowrestling calendars but I'd want them to work with Wrestlecrap to have the worst of prowrestling on each day.

I honestly think those are two separate, equally viable calendars, but that might just be me.

They totally are, however I'm not really interested in a calendar that tells me when the Funks first teamed in Japan so much as I am with one that tells me when Mike Rotunda became a boating enthusiast.

I've been watching the retro Nitros for a couple of weeks now and I've never seen or even heard mention of Sting, was he injured at the time?

Incessant Excess posted:Are you saying they took him off TV to freshen up his character? No he'd just take a bunch of time off either because they ran out of dates on him (96) or because he just wanted time off for whatever reason. I think in early 99 he's becoming a born again Christian but this might just be the stint where he did all the drugs that led to him becoming born again. He also takes time off at the end of 99, and then again in mid 2000.

Ah okay, I wasn't sure if you were talking about getting a new gimmick or something, didn't realize you meant a literal born again Christian. EDIT: They didn't pay him during those times, did they?

I mean they kind of had to in 96 as it was their fault. Him taking time off from fall of 98 - April of 99 was kind of hilarious as he'd spent all of 1997 not wrestling and getting paid for it.

It's a shame, his feud with Vampiro was really heating up when they took him off, and it kind of fell off a cliff interest wise when he came bacj.

I'm so disappointed that the truck driver who picked up Flair didn't just randomly have a camera-man in the cab with him when he found Flair like I remembered That was one of my favorite bizarre WCW memories and now it turns out it wasn't as batshit dumb as I recalled, even if it was still batshit dumb.

I'm sad how much they undersold Hogan's mustache showing through the ski mask. It was classic goofy wrestling angle. Of course you'd think they shouldn't really be putting comedy into gang horribly assaulting a man in a field but there you go.
