I got into the MPLS scene back in 2014 and have been exposed to some really great bands. royal brat is definitely in my top 10. The music rips, the live shows are electric. They’re releasing their second album in the next couple weeks and dropped the video for one of my favorite songs “Snowball.” I’ve lost my poo poo every time they’ve played it at shows.

https://youtu.be/oMZrRMMikbo

Fun and quick video! Give em a shot!!

https://royalbratmpls.bandcamp.com if you wanna check out their first album.

War on Women announced yesterday that they are releasing a new album in April and I am here to make sure you all listen to them because they rule. War on Women is like a cross between Bikini Kill and Propagandhi. Thrashing riffs with crazy vocals from a singer who goes completely insane on stage. Anyway here's a song from them about how people who are sexually assaulted shouldn't be afraid to speak up about it.

Captain, We’re Sinking broke up. They’re perhaps best known for having the brother of the Menzingers’ frontman as a vocalist, but The Future Is Cancelled is one of the few pop punk records I genuinely love.

I've seen them several times and it's always great. Like, seeing Descendents and/or ALL is always great and is one of those just genuinely positive show experiences. You're just smiling the whole time and leave the show like, really happy.

In my dreams They Live would get back together and play the show. It would almost make it worth it to go to the USA.

I just found out about them through a Dave Anthony article and what a loving powerhouse they are. Currently listening to Untitled (their 2016 record, I dunno, that's what Spotify calls it), and it's really good. Their vocalist reminds me a bit of the singer from the Bronx on Bronx's more aggressive tracks.

It is indeed called Untitled. I think it was actually a '15 release though.

Descendents tickets rolled in around $50 each after fees and bullshit. Milo Goes to Hawaii etc. Should be worth every penny though.

We have bar Eyehategod / Cro-Mags tour 2 weeks before too, so not a bad month for it.

I saw them in April of last year in Philly and Geoff somehow has more energy and stage presence now than the last 15 years I’ve been seeing them. Sobriety seems to have really given him life.

gently caress I miss my hair. That reminds me I should hit up my local record shop this weekend and see if they have vinyl for the new album.

Also, I now will check out Buildings. I live in the Twin Cities and have been at numerous shows of theirs because Tongue Party ends up on a lot of the same bills. Including the release show for Buildings’ last album. I never really clicked w the songs live but if they’re in the same boat as METZ, then I will give em a shake.

Glasgow emo band Slowlight have finally released their album online for general purchase. They were trying to get money to release it by selling a zine with a download code for it last year. Tides me over at least until Kaddish finally release album No 3 which is almost ready for release.

The original hard times articles are great, always a perfect blend of people who are obviously knee deep in a scene and able to spot the funny stuff about it. The spinoffs? Eh, they hit well every so often but a lot of it is bad. If the capture the magic of the original site, I’m in.

It also kinda surprises me we’re 10+ more years into streaming media personalities and I don’t think I’ve ever really seen a funny punk show or anything that even tries.

I will also be at the Buffalo show, excited to see them here for the first time. I saw them at Riot Fest 2016 and they were awesome. Although I thought it was ironic that they played Testosterone off the new record immediately followed by I'm The One

Anyway, to continue my obsession with War on Women, here's an article about the new album with a link for preorders:

https://www.revolvermag.com/music/hear-war-womens-roiling-feminist-anthem-ydtmhtl-featuring-kathleen-hanna

And a song off the new album called YDTMHTL (You Don't Tell Me How To Live) featuring Kathleen Hanna and holy poo poo it owns

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1PRykzV0Dtw

The article mentions a "workbook" version of the album but I don't see it on the store page. I guess I'll just order the vinyl bundle
