Give the Star Wars license to Paradox. We'll get Space Crusader Kings. To secure my dominion over the Outer Rim, I will make my Sith Lord marry this princess who is also a senator who is also his sister.

They could always take a page out of Games Workshops book and give bits of the star wars licence to a lot of studio's?

Seems to be working for GW.

Fun fact. A small studio once asked Games Workshop to make a game based on Warhammer in the early 90s. Games Workshop wasn't being cooperative so the little developer decided to make it their own thing. That game? Albert Einstein Warcraft.

Ohhh, i know. Lately though they've been splitting up the property and handing out bits and pieces of it to all and sundry. It's not a method every intellectual property can pull off but i think Star Wars could manage it. There's surely enough background material hanging about at least.

And if megacorp disney has taught us anything is that vertical integration is truly what we need more of in this world

Wait does disney not own ea

Maybe just birds of a feather ~

E: I rewatched esb recently and it was hard to watch all the poo poo that gets heaped on c3po by han and crew. they just turned him off poor guy, at least in anh he powers off by *choice*. Also it's the only time in the series we see a droid (r2) plugged in to recharge right?

We need one of those crying flag smilies but with 3po crying in front of a droid flag

We see droids recharging (Including 3PO himself) in the Clone Wars a few times.

Enough about people upset that the original theatrical or VHS or laserdisc OTs aren't available any more... how can they justify the purchase price of the digital downloads? I want to buy new copies of the prequels and they are $20 each? Amortized over the roughly 6000 times I'll watch each one, this is a relative bargain, but I still feel like this is insane.

Maybe instead of a gigantic station that blows up planets, they could use the materials and personnel to construct and man a fleet with thousands of capital ships that would completely and easily overwhelm anything the resistance could muster and completely dominate all space travel and commerce.

That would certainly make the task of defeating the Empire/First Order seem much more daunting and require a much more clever resolution than "find their one, huge weapon, blow it up and you win". It's just a bit tired how so many science fiction/fantasy stories amount to destroying an entire army/government/species by just blowing up one huge ship/fortress/queen/hivemind. I suppose if they did just go with a gigantic fleet, they'd just make the Empire put all of their ships in the same place for some stupid reason so the rebels could sneak in a bomb and blow them all up at once.

It just seems like a lazy and uninteresting way to resolve the whole "overcoming impossible odds" situation, where the way they do it is always by discovering that the enemy force, though overwhelming in power and number, is actually entirely reliant on some vulnerable thing that, when destroyed, will leave them utterly powerless. I mean...that never happens. It would be like if the US had just surrendered to the British in 1814 when they burned down the capital. "Oh! They got the capital! War's over guys, they got us."

This directly mentioned in the old EU and the new EU many many times, the imperial fleet officers all think the resources used for DS one and two should have been used to make a bunch of SSD's, the imperial leadership all know that the DS's were just a way for rap master Palpatine to have the military under his direct control. Bringing this up was a good way to be murdered by he galaxies most aggressive asthmatic.

I like how the home video trailer doesn't feature a single scene with Rose Tico or the casino sequence.

Due to the course of my job I actually laid eyes on this trailer last week and remember thinking just how tonally different it is from the teasers last year. Like night and day. And then the multitude of VAM to really reach for those sales.

Well, sure, an initial trailer has to keep a lot of plot points and scenes under the radar. Home video release can show whatever they want, because you've likely already seen the movie. Rian Johnson did not want you to know what this movie was about before you went to see it, for better or worse, and that's not surprising.

I believe Jason Fry's said that Han Solo's funeral will be included in the expanded edition of the novel and he's discussed the scene it with Johnson, but I don't know if anything was filmed for it. Such a scene would have to go right at the very start.

I've also heard there was an extra scene with Rose and her sister.

Yeah, I don't even know if it would work there. They're rushing like crazy to get off planet, but have time for a funeral? Maybe near the end on the Falcon, they can hold some ceremony, and jettison something symbolic into space, ala Wrath of Khan? Eh, either way, I don't know.
