To be honest I'm enjoying all the reviewers and commenters who are having meltdowns over KCD, as the game seems even more obtuse to them after ten years of icons, arrows, hints, hand-holding and button spamming no-skill combat games. What's mad about the Mack video I posted is he loving hated the thing in beta and posted poo poo about it on their forum, but now that he's actually learnt it, gotten half-good at combat and poured himself into it he's loving it. I think there's something to be said for that.

Yeah, I’m a lot deeper in KCD and I can’t put it down after being super skeptical at first. When you get full plate armor and walk a around town for the first time you feel like a loving tank. Better yet when you get in combat with a group of four bandits and they aren’t even layin a finger on you, arrows just bounce right off.

I’m jockeying for position and trading swings with two bandits, trying to not catch a lucky arrow, and the loving dude just whiffs an arrow right into the back of the head of his boss, who immediately keels over dead. I bum rush the archer and the rest was history, as the rag dolls slid down the hill we were fighting on. It’s really something else, man, poo poo just pops off and the combat is actually engaging.

That's p much my impression from everything being said about it too, plus I don't have anywhere near a good GFX card to run it now anyway. But after getting that sorted, it'll be nice to play a 1st person RPG without the usual magic crap and with a story at least somewhat based on RL events. Also nice to see actually realistic architecture in a videogame for a change.

I think the reason why shitizens might hate it so much is actually the fact that it looks sooo similar in terms of what it aimed for (realism, mocap voice acting, big expansive world,...) but unlike CIG Warhorse actually shipped in a pretty solid timeframe for a brand new company, while veteran games designer Crobblers faffs about in his 6th year of an alpha with no end in sight sans the lawsuit going REALLY badly for him.

There's the new studio in Derby that moved to larger offices too. I think all this is dumb as they could be counting contractors, Turbulent etc.

They could have 1000 staff, if they can't produce anything with a used car salesman in charge, which they obviously can't, it doesn't really matter.

They have 2 x 6,000 sq ft floors of a building in Wilmslow, there aren't 300 people in it. In fact the tenancy information (which I admit could be out of date) shows them as occupying only the ground floor and part of the first floor, comes out at around 8,000 sq ft.

Erin says 170 staff over 3 floors in June 2016, despite no tenancy listed for F42 for the third floor and a few other companies listed as tenants (two other companies currently still operating at that address, presumably on the third floor)

So the 284 employees doesn't ring true to me, unless they have people working from home? Surely not.

You can watch the video back, it's laid out at about 100+ sq ft per employee (UK average is 120) plus a canteen on the ground floor. I'd sure love to know where these 284 people are.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tpalZlE4FC8

Someone mentioned that they expanded Derby from 4 employees to a full office of x employees. Maybe 20 there now? That would be part of Foundry 42. That would get you to maybe 190 employees on the payroll between those two locations. I don't believe there is any way for the 284 to include Germany so I don't have a satisfactory answer.

Could there be a bunch of F42 employees embedded somewhere else? Cubic Motion? Perhaps they do have people working from home? Perhaps they have a shadowy development team that comes in at 6pm in the UK and works through the night to compound their multiple time-zone productivity.

Perhaps we're treading on the toes of Charlie Hall's next investigative journalism piece here.

There could easily be 60 in Derby, not linking them but there's a couple of dozen on facebook, there might still be UK based subcontractors like Cubic Motion too, you might be counting part-time staff too. Even when CIG has said something concrete that turned out to be the opposite of the truth, there's no real kick back from Citizens.

To me, taking a vague statement about staff numbers when you don't know exactly what their definition of "staff" is, nor are entirely sure of location included and trying to prove it wrong is pointless. There's no reason to lie when only you know exactly what you mean anyway.
