Please, please don't let me end up in a threesome with the lunch lady and a gay pirate. That would hit a little too close to home.

I particularly love that review because Ebert tended to praise movies I thought were overly sentimental and manipulative. So I cannot imagine how painfully bad North must be, and I've never been more sure that I did not want to see a movie in my life.

I saw it as, like, a 12-year-old, when it hit video stores. It was just...wrong-headed. Like it put in a huge amount of time and effort on a flawed thesis, a through-line that makes no sense to anyone but the most bored, out-of-touch screenwriter in southern California.

It did teach me what borscht was, though.

Every time I yank a jawbone from a skull and ram it into an eyesocket, I know I'm building a better future.

I have two movies or the same movie I only have thoughts about.

One involved time travel or something where a guy was locked in a business building or office room with a guy with a shotgun. And I think I remember at the end the guy came out of the room hugged the gunman guy and ran off. This was so long ago.

The other involved one scene I remember where two guys were walking and talking and then someone came up or they found out that a girl was holed up in the statue of liberty or a building with a machine gun

Yep that was scrooged. The second one is probably too vague to identify. I just remember a scene of some fat woman in a building in new york with a machinge gun/uzi. So vague

Here's another half-remembered movie I saw on late night TV years ago. Back in 2005-2006, Channel 4 in the UK did a documentary series called The Dark Side of Porn and alternated episodes with movies like Boogie Nights.

One of these movies was about this repressed man who spends all his time renting porn videos and eventually decides to direct his own, filming in his office in secret. Eventually, he secretly records himself having sex with his girlfriend (who he'd been trying to coax into appearing in one of his tapes) and gives the video to his sleazy producer. When his girlfriend finds out, she goes to meet the producer to get the tape back, he follows her with a gun to try and back her up, but it goes off and he fatally shoots her. After he gets out of prison, he goes back to spending all his time watching porn videos. While he was inside, the producer released the video of him and his girlfriend under a title like "Earthly Angel" or something like that.

Ring any bells?

There used to be a gif of a woman with an octopus attached to her face that got posted a lot. It was at night, there was blue fog and flashing lights. She was flailing around. I remember people saying it was from the 90s In The Mouth of Madness but I just watched it and saw no octopus faced woman. Does anyone know what movie that was from or have that gif?

This quote has been driving me crazy for the past week or two while I’ve been playing Monster Hunter. I wanna say it’s from a tv show but it might also be a movie and I’m almost positive it’s animated.

The scene is the main character is hidden somewhere off screen and one character is looking for him and says aloud as he’s doing so “I’m looking for yoooooou, I’m finding yoooou” the character looking might have a little bit of an accent.

That’s all I got. Please, exorcise this demon.

This is a weird one; I was admittedly pretty buzzed, but I remember it was in the future/space and there was a man that was imprisoned or being interrogated by a woman.

The room they were in was dark and he was shackled (not 100% on those two points) but he’s talking to the interrogator about going somewhere, and at one point he leans forward and says ‘Well, then we’ll go. Together.’

About the only other thing I remember is my friend made really good popcorn, so that’s probably why I don’t recall more of the film.

Does anyone remember a random plot/subplot of a film/TV show where a volcano hits a Caribbean island (Martinique, maybe?) while a prisoner is being transferred into a prison, and he gets abandoned by his guard? If I recall correct, he survives but was badly burnt or something? I was reminded of this today but can't figure out where the hell it's from... Can't even remember if this character was a lead or just an aside or anything :(

That was a real historical event (the eruption of Mt. Pelée in 1902) so maybe there was a dramatisation?

Haha, that eruption was a question on a quiz show I watched tonight which is what suddenly sparked this scene in my memory and prompted the question :) I did a quick search for disaster films I've seen and, as far as I can tell, I haven't seen any dramatisations of it. That's why I mentioned the possibility of a sub-plot: I'm fairly confident it was not the primary focus. Although I did just remember that the character in question was supposed to be the only one who survived the event or something? Because he got locked in a basement, maybe...? And was then found by the people sent to search & rescue or to rebuild

I was watching someone watch a movie on the bus and there was a part where some people were in a cool smoky futuristic nightclub with a lot of yellow lanterns in a grid and green flashing lights, and at some point one of the characters sat down and there was some sort of brain scanning device on his head that glowed white, and then it cut to some kind of tech loading screen that was diamond-shaped, and then there was someone unsheathing a square brass knuckles, and then I had to get off the bus what movie is that it looked neat

There was a musketeer type movie, I think from the 1960s, where in the final scene the hero is about to be executed but makes an improbable escape. He then speaks to the audience and asks those who preferred an ending where he dies to raise their popcorn, and those who preferred he escape raise their sodas. He then asks if this is the kind of theater that doesn’t sell soda?

I need your help movie identifiers! These two have slipped through all my best googling.

Movie A:
Mexican or Southern-USA town has something that grants wishes. Wishes include a guy getting a bigger dick, a girl getting a bigger chest, and some kid curing his acne.

Movie B:
A huge portion of the film is a passenger and driver in a taxi talking to each other. I think the passenger tells the driver to wait, kills somebody, and gets back in the taxi, greatly distressing and inconveniencing the driver.

I might be wrong, but are you thinking of Absolutely Anything? Simon Pegg is given the power to make anything happen by aliens, and one of the things he does is wish himself a bigger dick.

Then again, any sort of wish granting film, you just know a guy’s gonna go for a bigger dick.

I've got one or two films from the eighties, both(?) of them coming-of-age sex comedies; In the first one, an actress/or model dies and gets a second chance to enter heaven if she helps a virgin get laid; her advice includes hiding a salami in your pants, and that no means yes. (Yes, really.) In some later scene, the main character gets a knee to the groin and she concedes that occasionally, no means no. At one point, the main character gets taken out on a lake/the ocean by some biker dude, and gets told to jump overboard and swim back to shore, because he made a pass at the biker's sister, or something like that.

The other one, which may or may not have been a subplot of the previous movie, includes a competition about who can first get a certain girl; one guy records her aerobics session on audio tape and wants to pass it off as having recorded sex with her; another splices together photographs taken at different times through her window of her naked and him visiting the apartment to pretend he was successful.
