SK/Pally or Rogue was pretty much what I was thinking. I have my bard up to 25 now, but I just don't see it bringing a lot of value to that class makeup. Stacking haste and battle songs are kinda wasted for 1 melee, and while clarity song is great, it just doesn't make up for the awful DPS.

What's a good/cheap Rogue weapon?

For Rogue you *always* want the highest damage *piercing* weapon you can manage in your main hand full stop, no matter the delay. Backstab has to be done with a piercing weapon and the damage is keyed off of the mainhand damage. It isn't normalized to weapon speed like WoW and beyond.

From highest price suggestion to lowest:

Crystalline Spear ~650pp (13!!! damage, 30 Delay, one of the better backstabbers before raid gear)
Jade Chokidai Prod ~400pp (11 damage, 30 delay. +3 stamina gives you a bit more HP but the +6 wis doesn't really do anything for you unless you're tradeskilling)
Fang of the Garou - This one I don't know how much it goes for (9 damage, 28 delay, procs Lifespike for a little bit of healing, probably won't help too much)
Serrated Bone Dirk >100pp (8 damage, 27 delay, proc effect of engulfing darkness, which is pretty useful)
Gloomwater Harpoon ~75pp (9 damage, 31 delay, +4 str +25 hp at the cost of a slower delay than the other 9 damage options)
Jagged Chokadai Spine ~50pp (9 damage, 25 delay, +5dex)
Scorpikis Claw Impaler ~50pp (8 damage, 25 delay, +4str, +10 sv poison, Poison proc)

Offhand choice doesn't matter nearly as much. You can use blunt or slashing weapons here if you really want or if there's a proc you want to exploit, but generally just go with something that generally matches speed (or is a little bit faster) than your mainhand.

If you start cheap, go with the Spine (or fang of the garou if you find it cheap) and Bone Dirk or Scorpikis and that should carry you really well.

As far as race goes, start halfling. They start with innate sneak and hide so you don't have to worry about skilling it up as much in the initial levels, they get high innate dex and agi, wear small armor for lighter weight, and they require a lot less exp to level up at the expense that they eat faster. Halfling racial tradeskills are kind of poo poo, but nobody's racial tradeskilling is honestly worthwhile for a rogue.

Gnomes can see through zone walls, even if their stats are low at creation.

Dwarves are popular rogue choices, and their running jump animation is a barrel roll. The female dwarves have beards.

Halflings faces are great, in a "My Van has Candy" sort-of-way.

What's a good/cheap Rogue weapon?

Best budget rogue piercer:
Thunder Runed War Spear 13/30 5ac 25hp 5mr - 500p (note: can put in range when you upgrade)

Best twink rogue piercers if you can afford:
Small Dragonbone Shard 13/26 - 1k (small races only)
Frozen Shard 13/26 - 1k (has proc but not active until 44)

For offhand and haste, if you can afford it I highly suggest:
Velium Swiftblade 5/24 36% haste - 2k (offhand won't do much damage at lower levels, but that high end haste will speed up your main piercer and backstab refresh)

Gearwise you want to focus on str and hp for rogue.

Also, don't fret about your bard! They excel in twisting/mixing up song effects on the fly depending on the situation. You're two levels away from charming, which is awesome in groups both as cc and dps.

The only race to go for rogue is barb. The high innate strength/stam trumps any innate skills because you level them up as you go, and it’s harder to cap that stuff out with leveling gear than it is to level sneak/hide while you sit around LFG/waiting for pulls. The only downfall is your starting area but you get a port to EC bind in FP and you’re good to go.

Stats > everything, always. You can only gain stats from gear after you put your default points in. Strength is the only stat that really matters for Backstabs.

gently caress barbarians. By the time you get in spitting distance of endgame you're going to have so much strength anyways and have capped strength with buffs. Take the exp bonus and the ease of navigating dungeons and make your life better.

Stat-wise for rogues you need to ignore the dex/agi suggestion and go str/sta. Str is top priority because that has a direct effect on your damage. Yes, you can easily reach 200+ str in gear and 255 with buffs, but the faster you reach that the more hp/resist/sta gear you can wear. Dex helps with procs (but most procs draw aggro which you don't want) and agi is mostly a concern if you drop below 75 (and all rogues start with at least 80 agi), so you can largely ignore those stats.

For starting stat allocation, str is better if you're untwinked or a laughably weak race (like halfling or gnome). However, sta might be a better use of starting stats (especially if you're barb or dwarf) because it's harder to max sta, however you won't see returns immediately.

My personal ranking for rogue races:
1. Dwarf - 2nd best in melee stats (str/sta), +5 mr, infravision, barrel roll.
2. Barbarian - 1st best in melee stats (str/sta), nightblind, polar bear hat.
3. Halfling - 4th best in melee stats (str/sta), infravision, exp bonus, furry feet.
4. Gnome - tied for 6th best in melee stats (str/sta), infravision, wallhack vision, cool factor (can wear skyshrine robe, velious watchman helm, etc).
5. Anything else - no, just no.

This is correct. Super easy camp to babysit while the Light Burlap sacks, Mask of Deceptions drop (or don't drop).

Racial choices are a red herring argument anyway? Want to be unique - pick whatever you want and choose a deity that sounds cool.

Some choice options:
Dark elf (Innoruuk) - Reaper of the Dead (instant cast 1 charge complete heal, quest item)

Barbarian (Tribunal) - Icebelt

Just to gear characters and scout a potential exp zone for Iksars/Kunark levelers at a later date.

There are exp opportunities, if you can roam freely in the Firiona Vie Outpost and want to collect one or two stacks of Canines that will be rotting left and right. They've stackable and weightless.

If time permits, I can escort folks towards the Grachnist camp (+FV,+CabilisTrooper faction) or the giant fort (exp/forest loops)

Saw Jainis, an inactive BDA ranger log on his epic cleric to assist in a total fumigation on the Kly and corrupted gnomes in this dungeon. Loot from named mobs was sparse during the full clear, but special props to the level 15 willing to pull the boss blocking the teleporter exit.
