Perestroika posted:I'm getting a bit tired of how parry-happy some enemies are. I ran across some random Cuman (apparently kind of a big deal judging from his fancy armour), and the entire fight boiled down to: attack -> get parried, attack -> get riposte'd, attack -> actually connect but then the next one gets parried. At that point it felt less like a fight and more like a slot machine where I put in attacks in the hopes that the game occasionally decided to let one go through. What's even the point of these fancy-pants combos if I can barely get a single attack to land, much less three in a row? Yep, combine this with the fact that enemies 100% have infinite stamina, and combat against any higher class enemy is just so loving frustrating.

They don't have infinite stamina I don't think. I took that bull-rush perk that drains enemy stamina if you Sprint into them in heavy armor and it almost always gives me an opening where they can't block and I crack their head open with my mace.

For anyone encountering 2-3 second freezes in Rattay and other places, I found this mod to completely fix that particular issue. I still have FPS drops in places but the actual freezing has gone away. TL;DR is that this little program reserves a tiny bit of your processor power so that your primary core never reaches 100%, which apparently is what it causing the freezing for some people. It is an .exe so buyer beware and all that, but it's made navigating Rattay and the other cities SO much better.

So my enjoyment of this game has definitely followed a curve. A bit frustrating and annoying in the beginning, as I figured everything out. Fantastically fun after I got gud and was able to ride around the countryside, pillaging and looting and searching for treasure. And now horribly awful as the main questline completely takes over and forces me through awful mission after awful mission (gently caress you, monastery. gently caress you, night raid. gently caress you, fetch quests), and combat is a complete slog of just bashing enemies over the head with a mace, because every fight is against half a dozen opponents at once. And the story just gets bad. I wish they'd just made an amusement park game, and left the main story out. Do yourselves a favor and stop playing once you've found everything there is to do in the open world. Ignore the vengeance poo poo, and just let Bohemia burn.

Does the main quest run off without me if I'm doing other quests, or can I leave it fester like in Skyrim? Want to gently caress around a bit in the game.

Pretty much when you get to and actually start a quest, you should finish it ASAP. Or if they say meet me here tomorrow morning, yeah, do that. If they just say meet me in X you're probably fine to ignore it. Apparently henry's damage scales up stupidly with skill levels, which probably why combat is so easy now. God drat it. Why make an intricate system if you're just going to gently caress it like that. I was ok with attacks coming out faster with levels because that's cool. Raw numbers going way up is dumb.

Oh I ran into a weird issue where I couldn't get the bow to work in the return-to-skalitz main quest part, even though I had arrows equipped and everything. Do you *require* vambraces at that point or does the game just not let you shot bow until you do the training with Bernard?

Quick follow up to my earlier post: once you hit “Needle in a haystack” in the main quest line, stop. Every single quest from that point forward has multiple game breaking bugs that will require you to reload multiple times and/or scream in frustration as something stupid happens. Definitely milk the open world and do side quests. All the fun is there (and it is great fun, for the most part).

Yeah, I am really hoping that with all of the other homework they did, they studied up on how CDPR built a fan-base that got them to true AAA-status. KC:D - Enhanced Edition as a free update in 6-8 months, with all of the stuff they left unfinished, some quest polish/additions, some new weapons, and if they want to really hit it out of the park: a minority cast member inserted into a new supporting role with his own interesting questline, would be amazing. Certainly there are bugs to smash now, but a big balance/overhaul/polish DLC released gratis would go a long way to guaranteeing my pre-order next game. Still want a $30-45 Prague DLC, too. I had to back out and am leveling up, but from what i have read whether your men will make it is kinda random and thats true whther you do well or not. I didnt sabatoge anything but after the cart gets moved you can set some hay on fire and smoke the archers out, but thats sometimes bugged too. I made it to the end in just a leather vest thing and almost no sword skills and from what i could tell how well you do is completely random you can beat it without ever smacking anyone if your guys happen to do well and ive read people that did all the sabatoge still lose to many men sometimes. So its kinda bugged. E: poo poo. supposed to be a reply to guns for tits Ee: oh and also dont jump in the middle of the groups stay to the outside. Getting up in the mix seems to confuse your ai just as much as theirs. I had good luck just circling the edges and smacking people on the back and a good face stab when they turn around. At least that way if they engage you your guys have an open back shot on them and the kinda just spin circles getting beat down from both sides always reacting to who hit them last. Whatever is in a ps4. They’re just broken quests, nothing to do with hardware. The entire monastery infiltration quest is bugged at several points. If you try to fast travel near Vranic once “the die is cast” begins, you’ll get stuck on the quest advancement warning screen with no way to clear it. The rocketeer quest is horribly bugged when you wait for the assassin (I had to wait three days after multiple reloaded saves for him to show up). The herbalist search the “the siege” is bugged, and no herbalist will actually give me the recipe despite saying they will. The night raid is riddled with buggy spawns. Etc. They obviously started fixing and tuning the earlier missions firsts, and haven’t gotten to anything towards the end yet. Edit: My absolute favorite bug is from “Sheep in Wolves Clothing”, which is not a main quest, but one you have to do before “die is cast.” Once you join up with Hare’s poachers, if you shoot and loot any wildlife while with them, they’ll turn hostile and attack you for stealing Coldforge fucked around with this message at 23:10 on Feb 22, 2018 |

there are some weird things that you'd think would have been picked up with a bit more playtesting, like the irritating save system and the way that lockpicking is incredibly hard on a ps4 controller (though maybe i just need to git gud). today I ran into the wandering knight that challenges you to a duel. he bugged out after 30 seconds with his sword held above his head, not executing any attacks against me, so I thwacked him for a good 30 mins with a lovely club before he eventually succumbed, netting me several levels of experience. then I tried to haggle with a fence and the game broke, meaning I couldn't initiate dialog with anyone or even use a bed, so I had to reload a save from an hour ago. the game definitely has its fun moments. I just wish I had the self-control to hold off buying this until they'd patched most of the glaring bugs, but hey, such is life.

This is a true story: so I was barging into a tailor's shop or something and I had to bump past the woman inside the showroom to get to the man there, who I assumed was the owner. Out of the way, I said irl, to the woman who turned out to be the trader I wanted to speak with, and the surly guy leaning on the wall was just the shop guard who had nothing to say to me. To be fair I think she was just the assistant "trader" and the artisan guy was out back somewhere, but I found that a pretty personally interesting interaction that arose from the segregated circumstances of the game.
