So yesterday I watched the first two eps of Shinkalion and that is some extremely cute kid + giant robot anime, very much in line with the old Braves series. I would rec it if you're into that kind of thing! ....That said do expect it to be more Exkaiser than not.

More that I meant it's... it is light. The main thrust of the plot so far is "we shouldn't ask the kid to pilot the giant robot", and "the giant robot's out-of-combat mascot form wants to live with the kid", alongside the "who are the aliens attacking us/are they even aliens?" mystery. Nothing revolutionary, instead it makes up for it with charm. (Also I deeply love Exkaiser and would highly rec it - it's formulaic filler but it's so charming that you stop caring that it's monster of the week and instead enjoy everything about it.)

Trigger don't own it, so I've no idea why you'd curse them. Gainax could make it I suppose, but with all the main staff responsible after moving on to form Trigger from what I gather there doesn't seem much point. Although I suppose theoretically Gainax could collaborate with Trigger for a second season of it. Bonus points if they managed to have Panty, Stocking and RRRRULES go to the Little Witch Academia school for one episode or meet up with Luluco or Inferno Cop for some silly reason.

I've been having a rough time lately due to health stuff, but boy are Takagi-san & How To Keep a Mummy a powerful one-two punch of wholesome, adorable entertainment. They cheered me right up.
