A bunch of prominent dissidents persecuted by the Czechoslovak secret police made an official statement in support of Jeremy Corbyn:

"We were alarmed allegations have been made that Jeremy Corbyn, the Leader of the British Labour Party, was a confidant of the State Security of the communist Czechoslovakia. We were prosecuted by State Security because of our work for Charter 77 ourselves. We have learned about their methods from our own experience, and from the experience of our relatives and colleagues.

We thought the times when State Security could influence the lives of people in Czechoslovakia had ended in 1989. We consider it unacceptable that it could still influence the political situation even in other countries.

The claims by a former officer of the Czechoslovak State Security service, who operated in the 1980s in London with a diplomatic cover, underlined the dangers of uncritically accepting information given about its activities.

The credibility of this information was refuted by the director of the Czech Archive Světlana Pt�čn�kov�. It was also exposed as apparently false by a leading Czech expert of that era Radek Schov�nek. Their explanations are based on rock-solid evidence that excludes any possibility that the accusations against Jeremy Corbyn could be true.

Slovak courts recently ruled that testimonies of former informers and officers of the State Security of communist Czechoslovakia are a priori unreliable and useless. We strongly condemn the fact that some records, dozens of years old, could still be misused by the discredited ruins of the communist regime.

Franti�ek Bublan is a member of the Czech Senate. He was the director of the Foreign Intelligence Service.
Petr Kajnar is a politician. He was a mayor of Ostrava, third largest Czech town.
Eva Kantůrkov� is a Czech author. She was a spokesperson for Charter 77.
Petr Pithart was the first prime minister of the Czech Republic after the Revolution in 1989. For six years he served as the president of the Czech Senate.
Petr Posp�chal is a journalist and diplomat.
Jan �abata is a publisher.
Petr Uhl is a journalist. He was the director of the Czech Press Agency."

It is encouraging to see how after so recently fumbling badly on the messaging front that not only Labour has found a winning issue and is sticking to it, but it seems for once to come from a place of sincere belief, rather than cynical focus grouping of what seems most likely to win elections (but doesn't).

you have to be specific because "for the many" could describe like, any political slogan. the lib dems could run it it's meaningless it's "building a country that works for everyone". the subclause makes explicit a statement that "we will agitate for everyone even if that is to the determent of some privileged people"

Can't quite wrap my head around the idea someone has an MA Journalism and yet somehow doesn't understand socialism has often been Internationalist in nature. What are they teaching in private schools these days? (aside from how to look like one of the Inbetweeners)

honestly m8 "Building for the future" with a plan to make 500,000 houses a year and some kind of national training scheme for builders, plasterers and so on as adult education and they win 400-500 seats.

to be fair the closest britain has experienced to socialism has been declining imperial relevance with a side order of social democracy so people could be forgiven for thinking democratic socialism is nationalist in its orientation by default

There's quite a lot of pension funds that would like a 25 year bond from the British government, and they won't really care what it's used for, whether it's building houses or literally just giving it to the rich to no inflationary effect as has happened for the last ten years.

They might have quite a big vote floor but at the same time there are still millions of people who didn't show up to rout this failed government last time because Labour's message was honestly all over the place. If they have a clear Thing to achieve it would help get votes from practical people.
