The lowest Palp could go is 5 points, because the Tie Shuttle title explicitly says "no crew that cost more than 4."

Admiral Joeslop posted:He could do with a points lowering, or only one crew slot, or both. One crew slot, four points? Gunner is five points and let's you do a whole new attack and all the geegaws attached to that. Palp is now a once a turn guaranteed crit or evade and is wasted if you didn't need the result. Palp has two effects that are very valuable in this game and need to be priced in. Anything adding evade results is a valuable effect and is either situational, expensive, or both. (C-3PO, Autothrusters, Reinforce, Latts Crew, Ezra shuttle, Lone Wolf/Elusiveness kinda) Same story with crits (RAC, Guidance Chips, Marksmanship, Bistan, Ezra crew, etc.) But looking at that list the stuff that's situation either super sucks (Bistan, Marksmanship), and the stuff that works works great because it's cheap enough or the tradeoff isn't meaningful. Autothrusters is worth taking because you trigger it vs. a ton of the attacks in this game. C3PO is worth it on low agility ships, and has a once per turn downside. Reinforce is stupidly broken. Latts crew only works on Asajj, because you can nearly guarantee a stress to use it every turn. Guidance chips is dumb too, and should probably be a discard upon use effect or something. Old Palp was definitely not too expensive for what he did. New palp is, ehh, good but not great? Which is an OK design space for a card, I think.

Palp can never be 1 crew slot unless you want him running around in a cloaked phantom all day.

Palpatine wasn't overnerfed, he's still a crucial part of top imperial lists. His ability now has a degree of risk and ability to read gamestate attached to it, instead of being able to use it on demand which, in hindsight, was just laughably strong and frustrating for the opponent. Manaroo was overnerfed because look at all the dumb support poo poo like coordinate, Kanan (pilot and crew) , Intel agent Jan ors, jyn erso, operations specialist, etc etc that goes out to range 2-3.

Do cards that reference arcs - like Autothruster, Fearlessness and Concord Dawn Protector - trigger by being in arcs like the Ghosts rear arc even if it doesn't have the Phantom title? Or the YT-2400 with the Outrider title? I would guess they do, but I could certainly see people argue otherwise.

Effects that refer to a "firing arc" without specifying a type include primary, secondary, auxiliary, special, mobile, etc., but never the 360° arc of a turret. In the Ghost's case, something that references a "firing arc" without any other qualifier will work for the Ghost's "special firing arc," even if there is no docked Phantom or Phantom II.

So Rey + Lowhhrick is really good. Took it to a small 3 round tournament last night and only lost half point in rey once and tabled everyone else. It wasn't the most competitive field but I was surprised just how effective Rey was. When she is played right she can pretty reliably kill a regen poe in 2 turns. Most of my games ended in 20-30 minutes which is great for tournament stamina and you only have to think about 2 ship dials which are usually a 3 bank and 2 turn.

Stress hurts it bad though. R3-A2, Rebel captive, and Asajj are just bad news. Lots of tacticians are bad too

Now that I've acquired a Gunboat, this is what I'm thinking about taking to the next game. Comes out at 99 points. Countess Ryad with PtL, TIE Mk II, & TIE/x7 Onyx Sq Pilot with Ion Cannon & TIE/D Rho Sq Vet with VI, Tractor beam & Linked battery, Adv SLAM, & Xg-1 title. Yeah sure it's definitely not the most competitive list, and having an OS-1 gunboat would probably be better but I think this is a really interesting list with some options. I haven't done the maths yet but I wonder whether it'd be worth switching the linked battery for a Jamming Beam or something so I can be flexible about what kind of dick move I want to use. I think that the tractor beam is probably more useful overall (due to agility reduction), whereas jamming would only really impact certain ships.

It can work - the tractor beam/ion cannon combo is fun because you want to hit first with the tractor beam and barrel or boost them into a position that, after being hit with an ion cannon, makes them go onto a rock or off the board. Ryad is my homegirl and X7 with her is great. Sometimes I throw Juke on there but PTL is also a good choice to get maximum tokens. Just be careful of her placement because X7 makes the Defenders super predictable. Don’t be afraid to do the slower maneuvers to throw people off, and with PTL you can still get a fair number of tokens or a reposition out of it.

I tried it and really liked it. My question is how do you fly them together? Do you keep them in range 1 of each other for an initial joust and then break Rey away to do her fun sloop title stuff? I kept thinking that I NEEDED to keep Lowhhrick within range 1 of Rey as much as I could which slowed Rey down. I think now that after an initial joust, let Rey go and if Lowhhrick can get in range 1 to defend, that is just a bonus.

It helps if you put Low on the outside so that, on the turn Rey first sloops, he does a turn; this probably keeps them together a bit longer.

Regional tomorrow. Bringing Ghost Fenn because someone's gotta be That Guy and it may as well be me for once. Stressbot or not to stressbot? Flight Assist is incredibly useful jockeying for position early, but can pretty quickly become irrelevant in a scrum. Otoh Rey with expertise. :hmmm:

I think R3-A2 is a strong call right now, but it probably depends on your meta. It shuts down Expertise, but also messes with PTL carriers like Inquisitor, forces Vader to use his bad green moves the following turn, etc.
|
# ? Mar 2, 2018 16:14 |
R3-A2 cover's the list's one big weakness: Expertise. I expect Expertise to be everywhere as Ghost/Fenn is the list to beat. Rey, especially, is going to be around, flinging 4-5 dice per round with heavy modification...unless you can stress her. You'll probably not use R3-A2 in any non-Expertise matchup, unless you catch a PTL ace out of position and without Captain Yorr nearby. FAA is there in case you gently caress up Fenn's positioning. R3-A2 is there to counter your opponent's counter to you. I feel the latter is a better call unless you just really suck at flying Fenn.
