homebrew or macports. probably the former but depends what kind of packages you want. ublock origin for safari, or 1blocker. latter is great on iOS, and the desktop version allows you to port over preferences and write your own rules Xcode / developer tools / etc. a bunch of other poo poo depending on your interests / uses

also i can't really recommend many apps because i just use a browser and unity most of the time nowadays but i guess omnigraffle and pixelmator are pretty cool if you want to make diagrams or draw things!
