I'm not sure you can blame DuBois, and certainly it doesn't support any moralistic poo poo. But perhaps the lesson here is that not every expression of resistance is a priori emancipatory. Anyone paying attention would have known the rhetoric Japan was peddling was empty, it was just a rationalization for their own designs. OTOH We also can't ignore that the rhetoric and war against Japan was also extremely racialized, and didn't really pay much mind to for example the chinese peasants, who suffered in all this. It's also telling that the Yellow Peril rhetoric basically transferred directly from Japan to China, in the post-war era, because of Mao.

There is definitely an anti-semitic crank component to the pro-corbyn wing of Labour, but it's vastly overstated and there's actually quite a lot of it on the fringes of the other parties too. it just isn't as neat of a narrative, so nobody covers it much
