They're not really around I don't think, GW don't post them or anything. The only lists I know are mine and Rich Gwatkin. The other Ork player who came 3rd was sort of posted on Dakka too. That's about it.

Where at in VA? The warhammer store in Richmond is super friendly but it's also tiny. I love the lady that runs it though. Haven't been to the LGS here though, only been here a few months and my new job hasn't left me with much time for minis

Suffolk / Norfolk area. So within striking distance of Richmond. Glad to hear there are some friendly folks in the area.

Still wishing / hoping there is a social network app or something so that we can find like minders players. I saw the system on Dakka, and it has a few search options, but seems underpopulated.

That area is full of people who play if the number of stores is any indication. There's a GW in Virginia Beach, and when I was driving through the area World's Best Comics & Games in Newport News seemed like they had a huge selection and a lot of playing space. Your best bet is to check out those stores and see what local groups they have; I know most stores have a Facebook group (although for whatever reason I still can't find the Springfield store one).

We had a map of players but it’s long-since outdated. Perhaps it’s time to bring it back, seems like it would be a useful resource:

I used to live in Norfolk and I know there is still a community there. Atlantis Games & Comics is where I used to play most often.

Lost 2/4 to a Sisters army with Celestine and Greyfax in the first round, then got my poo poo pushed in 2nd round by a 75% bikes Custodes list. Bye in the third may keep me from last place, but I deserve it.

Has anyone seen people do Scions with a ceramic-style armor scheme? I've decided that I need a quick way to paint large tanks, and that using the same Bonewhite/Soft Tone/Bonewhite drybrush scheme that I use on my Primaris armor might work well on tanks. I bought some Scions so I could try the helmet on with my Scouts (I think it will look great), and since a Scion battalion is a fairly cheap way to get command points and some guys who can drop in unannounced I figured it might be worth messing around. I'm thinking of doing the hard parts in a bone color, and then doing the soft parts in a washed gray (so a gray base, light gray highlights, then washed with black). I'll probably do a test model once these Hellblasters are finished but I was curious as to what people think.

Lore-wise maybe this could be the start of a Solar Auxilia; I imagine Roboute would view the way Tempestus Scions are made with the same level of enthusiasm as he holds for cherubim.

That colour scheme would probably work and you'll prob get a slightly desert urban vibe from them. If I was you I would try to figure out a way to get the purple you are using on your marines in there. Maybe on the scopes/eye lenses?

I was thinking of maybe using the same logo. I know the purple is a major point of the Primaris guys but I'm not sure how much I want to use it outside of the marines. Like the Primaris use mostly purple, the scouts would use purple with desert pants, and then the Scions would be mostly desert with black.

Something I really like about the 'soup' ally system for 8e is how friendly it is WRT making mini 500-point armies that you can then match together. I'm considering seeing if you can make a dece 500 points Salamanders detachment, since their role as Not Insane Marines make them a nice pair with what I'm going for with the sisters/LotD army.

I've been avoiding talking about it for obvious recast stigma reasons, but I got an entirely legit promise Forgeworld package, and the copyright info was hilariously screwed up both in spelling and printing onto the bag. It made me smile to think that copyright DO NOT STEAL info has become yet one more esoteric detail for copycats to add for an air of quality, especially with my current opinions on IP laws.

Almost forgot, I played a game recently! 4,000 point Necron vs Tau game as a last hurrah before they get a codex. Used the Open War cards and ended up with a weird deployment.

Our objective was The Comet, so after two turns of exchanging fire the objective lands on the table. Fortunately it landed by my 20 strong Warriors squad and their Cryptek babysitter. End of turn 5, he wasn't able to move them off the objective, securing me the win!

So a fortnight later I'm able to paint for about 20 minutes before fatigue starts to set in to my shoulder, but 20 minutes isn't zero so I might actually be able to finish my inceptors this week since it's just highlighting metallics, iconography and cleanup.

I used greenstuff and basing paint to make them be plowing into the dirt in a landing rather than gently caress about with flight stands again. Not pictured are the other two where I faffed about and hollowed out the re-entry masks so all 3 of them have an open one like this guy.

you do a purple ink over silver, right? You could try doing a gunmetal airbrushed on for the dark parts, VMA Steel or something for midtones, and hit it with some VMA chrome or something for the highlights before airbrushing on he purple ink?
