Yeah, I knew the GDAX/base stuff, I was just pissing around.
I have some friends who used it a lot when fees were $40, and they only wanted to make a small transaction to their wallets. Probably to buy air-dried strawberries, they never said...

Holy hell, these guys take a poo poo from a great height on blockchains.
The comments are great.

I pulled up the gdax chart for the first time in a month and it looks like there's basically no volume (at least relative to all the other times I was watching it in the past). Bitcoin price watching has truly become boring.

No! Some are excessively clever Smart Contracts that will automatically hold the price of the coin stable as long as you don't trade it too much.

This latest bitcoin hack seems to be pretty ingenious on the part of the scammers. It's all over reddit, but gently caress if I'm going to copy & paste everything to draw the dots together.

Seems like someone found some exploit in Binance where they could execute trades with compromised accounts (but seemingly couldn't withdraw). These account holders report that they hadn't had any failed login attempts and 2FA was enabled. The hackers executed trades to buy a shitcoin VIA, which pumped up the price so the hackers could sell their own VIA at a massive profit.

I can't feel too sorry about stuff like this, because the entire point of these things is to provide an opaque mechanism to take other gullible people's money.

They were all hoping to cash out at the expense of everyone else buying in. This just changes who got left holding the bag.
