I like the big Corsair. The graphic is kind of restrained, the material feels nice, and the stitching is durable.

TCG playmats are almost always literally just mousemats. They're often the foam bottom with that thin cloth layer bonded on top, and don't have nice stitched edges though.

I got this Dechanic one after it was suggested earlier in the thread, and it's holding up really well. Hand washes easily without any wear. Whatever you get, make sure it's got stitching on the edges to keep it from fraying and collecting dust.

I'm in India and my budget is a little limited (~50USD) which is just enough for another G402 :v:
If you like the G402 as is, you'd be best off trying to get another one (but it is discontinued). The G102 is the best sensor out of those you've listed, but it doesn't mean much if you don't enjoy the shapes. Logitech's modern lineup doesn't have a direct equivalent to those old ones you listed but the G403 might be close enough to your hands.

The G403 is prohibitively expensive here so it's out of the question, sadly. My only qualm with getting a Logitech again is having to replace it within a year or two for the same issue. How is the Steelseries Rival 100/110?

Also, I should've mentioned this in the original post but I use a palm grip and apparently the G102/302 are meant for claw grips? I have small hands and from the few reddit posts I've read the G102 is alright for palm grips if you have a small hand with the only real negative being no real place to rest your thumb.

Second question that hinges on the answer to the first, are there any mice with a shape like the Xornet or Xornet II but with the 3360/3366 sensor?
Coolermaster mastermouse 520, or mionix naos QG. Both are 3360s. I got the naos on sale; it's hard to pick up and squeeze. In particular, trying to use mouse4 during liftoff was making me lose control, there's not good purchase and the angles on the thumb and pinky sides don't put a ledge in your way. The QG also feels worse than the naos 7000, I don't know if they had to use a different material for weight or so the stupid heartbeat monitor worked but drat, the 7000 felt great in store and the QG feels all the wrong kind of rubbery.

I actually got a Corsair Sabre instead, sensor is a 3988 (slight upgrade of 3310) and I can't make any spinout occur so it's fine by me. I'm still chasing a g9x shape rather than Xornet and this was a better fit for me. I would like to have tried the MM520, but I'm happy enough with the Sabre.

Kind of a weird request, but does anyone have recommendations for a mouse and/or mousepad for use on the arm of a couch/easy chair? Or do I really just need to get a lap desk. I would prefer wireless, and not expensive. Doesn’t need to be crazy headshot-tier performance, just not lovely.

They make these trays that go over the arm of a chair (amazon "arm chair mouse pad"). Might do what you want.

They also used to make these mouse pads that had what was essentially a small beanbag on the bottom of them so they could conform to odd/soft shapes. They usually don't stay level though, and my quick googling couldn't find one.

If one of those works, then it would be whatever mouse you like.

The MX Ergo is the first trackball I would look at (and probably the last, tbh). It can work wired or wireless.

I use a Kensington expert at work and I like it. If you are going the trackball route, thumb operated might be faster to adapt to, but finger operated may be better in the long term for your wrist.

I've heard mixed reviews about the scroll ring, but mine works fine and is good. Ive never tried the slim blade one so idk how the ball scrolling feels.

Logitech makes some good thumb operated trackballs and elecom is big in Japan and has unique designs, but do a little research and find the features you need before grabbing one, as some have no scroll options, or no way to hold down LMB and use the scroll wheel at the same time.

I've been using a Elecom Huge for several months, ordered it direct from Japan before the US got inventory. Can't install the driver package on my work machine but all the basic buttons work: clicks, scroll wheel up and down, back and forward navigation. It replaced a Logitech M570 that was several years ago that started having click issues. I also tried Elecom' trackball that has a similar form factor but didn't like the ergonomics.

I still use the Microsoft Trackball Explorer, but they don't make that anymore, so the closest ones to it are Elecom's DEFT (I have the wireless one) and HUGE (I wish I got this one). I'd recommend the HUGE because it has a bigger ball, which makes things easier on your wrist because you can use less precise movements (of your fingers; you can still be precise about cursor movement). They're both fingerball style and both come in wired and wireless versions. The drivers work fine for PC, not sure how they are for Mac. The main thing you may need to adapt to is using your thumb for left-click and scrolling (and right-click if you configure it).
http://www2.elecom.co.jp.e.gj.hp.transer.com/peripheral/trackball/

Kensington Expert Mouse is another strong recommendation.

thumbballs can eat poo poo

e: you may also want to look into using an ergonomic keyboard. i had some wrist issues for a few years and they've gone away since i switched to a microsoft ergonomic keyboard 4000 and a trackball, i now just use the trackball only and a normal laptop keyboard.

Trackballs are also a good solution for this because you don't need to have a large, stable mousing area (or even one at all) for them.

I really appreciate the posts. I have just recently been having issues with my mousehand wrist after 10-12 hours of daily use for awhile now. Ordered a HUGE based on the past few posts. I’m looking forward to trying it out, I haven’t really used a trackball before so I’m looking forward to it. I do remember playing some Age of Empires at a friends house with his dad’s trackball (and giant screen filter over his CRT) back in the mid90s, but thats my only experience with them so far.

Will probably post after it arrives and I get a chance to use it for some gaming, etc.

ahem

I have a Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic Mouse. I've had it for a couple of years now, and I've mostly kept the hand scum buildup to a minimum, but now the drat left mouse button randomly doesn't work. I pulled off the cover and air-blasted the insides, but it didn't really help. Is there any common problem that could be going on or is it just a cheap switch that's worn out?

By randomly I should specify, every few seconds one click or several clicks get no response. Pressing harder changes nothing. It seems to have come on suddenly.

The switch's metal spring or spring plate has probably lost it's springiness. Pressing harder is just keeping the switch pressed. Probably best to get s new mouse now unless you want to try and fix it yourself with new switches.

Question: Why don't they more more ergonomic mice like this?

Usually that's just the switch getting worn out or dirty. It doesn't use the same kind of switches as I usually see in logitech mice (usually omron switches in a little box enclosure) so I can't give you specific advice on replacing it but this thread has a picture of the switches:
https://superuser.com/questions/924185/microsoft-sculpt-ergonomic-mouse-can-you-disassemble-it-for-cleaning

There's also a series of pictures here:
https://forums.windowscentral.com/ask-question/348901-does-anyone-know-how-i-could-disassemble-microsoft-sculpt-ergonomic-mouse.html

They almost look like little tactile switches but I'm not familiar with the specific ones. That's all I can really find about it online, but if you can find a replacement switch and don't mind soldering you can probably replace it.

If you can get the part number, Digikey most likely has you covered. It's worth a shot for a couple bucks if you like it and don't like throwing away an otherwise good piece of equipment. The switches on my Anywhere MX had tiny solder points and my desoldering/soldering was sloppy as hell, but I was still able to get four or five more years of swaps done before I finally messed up enough to lift a trace.

It doesn't have to be 36" x 16" the mat just can't be any bigger than exactly 36" x 16" (I checked with a measuring tape) or it won't fit on my desk with my soundbar and my 4K HDTV with its feet that stick out a little bit. But I do want it large enough for both a standard-sized keyboard and mouse for gaming. The Razer one is slightly too long but that SteelSeries one looks nice and it would fit on my desk but it doesn't have the edge stitching or is that not a big deal?
