the media (e.g. NPR) goes out of its way to never reasonably compare US healthcare and other systems and how much americans are getting ripped off. people aren't stupid morons and will understand they get more overall if you replace premiums with more cost efficient taxes. the media always intentionally frames this misleadingly though and did so throughout the primaries implying that sanders' proposal would be more expensive than the current system

i exist in a situation where i make very little money and i have medical needs that i have to deal with regularly. i have been avoiding going to the doctor because i can't afford the bills. i would gladly take a consistent increase in my taxes if it meant i could get my poo poo fixed with no charge to me (don't raise taxes, imo, just eat the rich)

tax the poo poo out of the rich end all corporate tax loopholes institute an annual wealth tax punitively tax unoccupied property

a rich person getting free college is such a disgrace that we can't let poor people get free college if there's even the slightest possibility that a rich person may sneak in there, this makes sense

you dont even need to tax rich people to pay for m4a and all the cool useful social programs, the government can always pay for everything it needs. don't believe it? they just gave $100 billion to Trump for more defense spending we don't need, that's free college for everyone in america right there. unsurprisingly the rich people that run congress like telling everyone else there's no money

we should all live together in one giant room the size of Nebraska and Oklahoma combined, like a big family, and Texas will be the front yard and the back yard will be the northern prairie and the lucky ones will have escaped to the mountains on either side to live truly free as nature intended, and then beyond that, the great oceans, engorged big league upon the ice waters of the melting polar regions.

quote:When inventor Frederick Banting discovered insulin in 1923, he refused to put his name on the patent. He felt it was unethical for a doctor to profit off a discovery that would save lives. Banting’s co-inventors, James Collip and Charles Best, sold the insulin patent to the University of Toronto for a mere $1. They also wanted everyone who needed their medication to be able to afford it.

Cutting military spending and raising corporate taxes and even a wealth cap are great ideas and workable in the system we currently operate under but these ideas are lacking that certain supremely spectacular, morbidly theatrical, grotesque pizazz that usually accompanies times of great historical change.

(or whatever) both discourages wealth hoarding and encourages reinvestment in wages
