Yeah... no. Thinking that CIG has smooth AI followers (and all the other BS) in their game in any sort of even aspirational condition is in no way, shape, or form easier to believe.

For some unfathomable reason I'll take "anonymous man in the internet is lying", to be honest.

A positively-biased person describing the Gamescom 2016 demo could easily have said “the demo I saw featured multiple combat encounters — a dogfight in space, an FPS battle with pirates in a deserted ship, vehicular combat on a planet’s surface” and believed it.

A positively-biased person describing the Homestead demo might’ve said, “CIG has made huge strides in AI combat — I’m talking stealth melee takedowns in a raid against desert nomads and a Boss Fight with a sandworm that was right out of Dune itself!”

These are just a few of the mistaken impressions Chris would’ve been delighted for a backer to take away from watching those demos. They are not remotely accurate but would constitute success to Chris. After all, we see the Devs themselves create confusion as they recount their intention and this shows just how successful Chris has been at normalizing the conveyance of mistaken impressions via demos. Chris as domineering project leader has projected a Reality Distortion Bubble that over time clouds the common sense instincts and values of malleable people who surely would be against false advertising if asked. Most can’t see they’ve endorsed it and co-created it themselves under Chris’s misguiding, Code Whispering hands.

Josh Herman talks about all the time spent putting something in The Game when it wasn’t even the game they were working on — it was a demo. Right after that segment, Chris offers a blase take on Hannes Appell whipping together a fake scanning mechanic, even as he drives home his incoherent primary goal: “I just want to sell the narrative” (blah blah) “more and more fidelity” (blah blah) “find and recover this stuff.”

A MoMA-like figure who saw that demo and walked away telling others, “The 3.0 build I saw had a cool new stealth combat system, it had AI desert nomads piloting dragonflies in formation, it it had new scanning mechanics to help in find and recovery work, oh, and did I mention the HUGE boss battle?!” might really have believed all those things were in a secret 3.0 build based on that demo, but of course none of them were.

I’m not meaning to White Knight for MoMA on this, just to point out that Chris has long been in the “create mistaken impressions of progress for profit” business and trailers and “game demos” have been primary tools for that purpose. If MoMA was again chumpatized by seeing some such thing, I’d not be surprised.

MoMa has seen one of the 2 missions currently available. He is some sort of shill/ streamer and I believe he's telling the truth. He also has zero technical knowledge and is not a game developer as one can surmise by his posts. This means he could have seen a cobbled together set of pre renders, editor cuts and actual scripted gameplay. It's not in the same class of straight up bullshit that Jabba was peddling when he claimed to have played all of sq42

Let’s just all keep an open mind to the possibility MoMA’s mind may be too open for its own good sometimes. At least his kickstarted belt is holding up his pants and making for a natural conversation piece when he speaks of the virtues of crowdfunding.

“Nice belt.”

“Oh thanks. I helped kickstart it actually.”

“Really? Wow. That’s pretty cool.”

“You bet it’s cool. And the best part is we cut Big Fashion right out of the loop. It just meant more money going right to the artisan whose keeping my pants from dropping even as I’m talking with you.”

“Uh— okay.”

I'll sweeten the deal and volunteer to be banned as well if you go with it, as long as i get a picture of that pretty moddog as my reason.

Also, more moddog ?

I believe moma, so long as he actually went to CIG, which I don't entirely believe.

But you all know how CR is, and what he does. I totally 100% believe there is hours of footage "not good enough" for his presentations that is good enough to show crappy backers in private to give them the illusion they're seeing something special and not the poo poo Chris Roberts deemed untenable for his perfect showing.

And since nobody saw Pusher in the big screen, they probably are seeing her performances when they are scraping the cutting room floor for "special content" to serve visitors.
