It's not like you need audiophile quality sound coming out of your ground wire.

Only use 12ga atomically aligned, 100% oxygen free, premium copper ground wire with gold-plated terminals for best sound quality.

$800 per foot, an absolute bargain for such a major upgrade to your TT. EVERY table will sound BETTER. TURN A $300 REGA into an AUDIOPHILE REFERENCE DECK that BLOWS $3000 TABLES AWAY.

Stock is VERY LIMITED so order the length you need TODAY and impress all your friends. WHEN YOU HEAR IT THE DIFFERENCE YOU WILL BE AMZAED!!! You upgrade your cartridge, your furniture, your speaker cables....but a PROPERLY GROUNDED table is fundamental to good sound. Without a good ground your fancy equipment is useless!! DO NOT make the HuGE MISTAKE of spending $$THOUSANDS$$ of DoLLARS$$ upgrading your gear and then use a cheap ground wire. You idiot!!! LEVEL UP your sound game to the NEXT LEVEL by LEVELING UP your ground game!!!

I scored a set of Sansui SP-3500 speakers at goodwill today for $10. One small piece of the wood lattice grill is broken and I'm not sure how to get the grills off to inspect the cones. Worst case some of the components are broken and I sell them off for parts or repair. Best case they work and I have a friend who is into woodworking fix the grill.

Sort of perplexed by something: Picked up a Kenwood KA 3500 today. On Aux everything sounds phenomenal (setting of 0 sounds fine for bass). On Phono, the bass is SEVERELY lacking (needs to be cranked to 8 to get any oomph at all). It's not my cartridge because I also have a Pioneer receiver and it sounds great with this table/cartridge combo. Not sure what to do. I opened the Kenwood and it's pretty drat clean inside. I sprayed some deoxit in there to fix some scratchy knobs, but otherwise it hasn't made a difference. Any ideas?

My local Goodwill just got a good condition Pioneer SX-737 receiver and CT-F7171 tape deck (which has a wild loading mechanism). Unfortunately they're asking $150 for the pair, which was too much for me to even try plugging them in. I'm hoping it's still around on a half-off day, because I would be all over it for $75.

Found this weird brand quad decoder for a couple bucks today. I've been meaning to get my quad 8-track setup going (once I can find a tape), but I've never seen anything related to quadraphonic vinyl in the wild before. I'll need to do some research on this topic. I think there were competing standards in the 70s? Since there's practically no mention of this model online, hopefully it just works with my turntable, receiver, and whatever quad record I can find. It also has four discrete aux inputs (two "low" and two "high"), along with the two phono inputs. Though I'm not sure what the point of the aux input is. Maybe to use a quad 8-track player with it, but if this is just taking four inputs and giving four outputs, then what's the point? To make it sound like a concert? Come to think of it, I'm not really sure where this would integrate in my setup. Between my turntable and amp, but that would mean I can only use it with my quad receiver which has four discrete RCA inputs, and I would think most quad receivers would have decoding built in anyway (not sure if mine does). But then if it's between the amp and speakers, I have to figure out a way to do that using RCA jacks. Use the tape monitor and solder some plugs onto speaker wire would work, but that doesn't sound right. I've never heard of a component acting between the amp and speakers. It's no wonder this tech didn't take off. How does Techmoan not have a video on quadraphonic stuff yet?

I almost pulled the trigger on a specialised quadraphonic turntable and receiver once. I remember that together they weighed like bordering on 50kg lol. Then I was like, what am I doing? I don't even own any quadraphonic records. I assume the decoder would sit between TT or 8-track player and amp but I'm not an expert on audio decoding. Quad is cool but confusing and expensive. Ultimately it was less of a competing format and more of a boondoggle for the audiophile community that never really reached mainstream success. The decoder may allow you to pipe 2 channel stuff through 4 speakers too, so you can see if it works on any record or 8-track. It won't need Quad Vinyl/8-Track I don't think, but obviously you won't actually gain any benefit other than getting it through 4 speakers.

Aix posted:Isnt this far too cheap? As far as I can tell from the label this thing is basically brand new. The 'NEU' is the brand name. From the picture it seems to be missing the headshell, so it probably isn't brand new unless they have it kept separately. The brand is unfamiliar to me, looks like for domestic Japanese consumption only. Retailed at ~¥30,000 new in the last 5 or so years, so it's a fair chunk off the price. Small amount of info I can find suggests it's a good machine and a good buy, but definitely check about the headshell if you want to buy it. I did find one new for sale on eBay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-In-Box...GkAAOSwbmtZi3rQ e: also if you were getting confused with a Technics 1200MK3, this is not one of those. And yes, second hand they are worth hundreds of dollars.

this made me check again, turns out the mk4 was the one that does 78rpm and theres a third button for that speed? for some reason i thought it was the mk3 and you got 78 by pressing both 33 and 45 at the same time. wonder where i got that idea. probably some geocities site back in the day

Yeah the real problem with this is for people that have unusual setups. I have an old Garrard that has a tonearm like an I-beam and I've matched it quite nicely with an SC35C which although Shure had marketed as a DJ cart recently, was designed as a broadcast cart for heavy arms. e: I hope foil M3D prices don't go even higher now.

https://twitter.com/UncleKitchener/status/992029690809520128?s=19 Got a used 1200MkII a while ago and I'm really putting to work. It's been a real workhorse and previous owner hadn't modified it and been using it with a decent Stanton 500-II cartridge (changed it for Ortofon 3E with new headshell). I don't really see a big reason to modify it for now since I don't have 78s, but are there any real reasons to actually modify a MKII?
