Oh, I never said the Genesis failed, just that it was a flash in the pan. Every other console they put out was disappointing, at best.

I felt so bad about people that bought Street Fighter 2 because Turbo was so much better. Also I remember buying SF2 Turbo for almost $80 at EB Games. Games used to be really expensive.

I heard that the Madden ports for Dreamcast were great because you could use the little screen on the controller to pick your plays so the other guy can't see them

Especially since by the time it came out, Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo was out in the arcades, and was probably overall the best balanced version of SF2. Capcom should have just released that one, considering SSF2 didn't sell all that well.

Sega's NFL2k series had that option and it was pretty neat, but it just had a list of the plays, so you had to know which name meant what.

Sega seems like it could have only existed in the 90s, as it was the console of 'tude and that could only be really marketable in the 90s. I've asserted many times Sonic is just the 90s embodied, and why most of his fans are the same people that had their sexual awakenings by the lady bunny in Space Jam. Anyways, I was watching Retail Archology and he was talking about Hot Topic and played this ad https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nckB1GRol-E Now that is 90s as gently caress. That sound track, the clothes (did anyone outside of music videos and skinemax wear those corset/short/stockings thing?), and just everything is 90s "alternative" as all hell. The podcast 30-20-10 reminded me how god drat long Titanic was at the top of the box office, but surprisingly My Heart Will Go On was only at the top of the charts for a brief time.

one 90s thing that I can't find on the internet so far is a song they used to play on the morning zoo radio show which was a parody of Snow's "Informer" to which the chorus was "I'm a farmer, get up at five in the morning and use my hands to milk the moo-moo cows"

The mention of Blind Melon, Axl and Nirvana in that second article makes me continue to think for all the talk of a Cobain biopic, I still think doing a period piece movie with Shannon Hoon would be a better idea. Not so much that he's all that much more interesting, but he has a different story that could be used to explore the rise, fall, rise and fall of different different pop culture eras. Small town, american high school athlete kid gives you a chance to give a pre-GnR, pre-Hair Metal music perspective of the day. Goes to LA, works with one of the biggest metal groups of the day as they have been reaching their peak popularity. Then as that scene is starting to lose popularity, he himself is in a band that has a few big hits in the then-growing new 90s alternative rock genres. Finally, a just as that scene is losing popularity and other genres like rap and post-grunge and even vocal groups start becoming popular he ends up dying.
