Man, I was really enjoying the Yusuke link and was wondering why I never maxed him in my first playthrough until I got to the part where halfway through you have to have MAX PROFICIENCY to open a locked door in order to continue. It wasn't even something like you need max proficiency in order to draw something to have a cool painting session with him, you just gotta open a door.

Oh well, I can feel how much better my overall game progress is. I've got at least three in all stats and two at rank four. I'm a little ways into August and I'm about to start the fourth palace. I've already started the Fortune link, which is funny because the first Fortune persona you can even get is level 26 and I'm only level 24, but I'm getting very close to approaching Social Link Overdrive. Speaking of Fortune, I know I mentioned earlier all the interesting foreshadowing the game does, but the first time you meet her she tells the MC he's going to die on his current path, but the player is supposed to blow it off as if she's trying to sell you the Holy Stone

Fortunately, you don't need Max Proficiency to open a door.

You need it at rank 4 :v:

Oh, I assumed Masterful would be the max rank because...uh...I really didn't think they would use the rank of "Masterful" for anything but the highest rank, but it turns out Transcendent is max rank.

And yeah I think this game has the weirdest stat locks in the series, both in terms of placement and context.

So far I've hated all of the navigators in P4 and P5. They all repeat the same dumb poo poo in squeaky minnie mouse voices. Thank god Futaba was there to whine MOONAAAAA AAIIIEEEEEEEMMUUUHHHH if Morgana happens to miss a hit thanks to a calculation in the game software. Oh wow, thanks Rise, had no idea that me killing a Shadow makes you hot, thanks for sharing this vital information and also I'm never dating either of them.

Atlus tries to foist these navigators on you and wants you to love them and I still can't date Ryuji

I'm honestly amazed they pulled the same "navigator becomes combatant, get new navigator" maneuver three games in a row. Switching from Mitsuru to Fuuka was actually the worst thing about Persona3, Rise was my punishment from the Monkey's Paw after wishing that I could get rid of Teddie's voice, but my opinion of Futaba is the highest of the navigators simply because all her lines aren't burned into my brain. That could change by the end of this playthrough though. Also, she's not Mona, so at the very least she's an improvement on that front.

I actually quite liked Futaba (her random stat boosts and occasional blocking of one hit KOs helped me out a lot, and I always level grind with the sound off so I can listen to podcasts and thus never got too annoyed with her voice), but you're right that not being able to date Yusuke or Ryuji is some grade A bullshit.

Let me be gay Atlus. I mean the female protagonist of Persona 3 could hook up with both Elizabeth and Aegis, so why can't any of the dude protagonists kiss dudes?

I get more irritated that they play the one reaction sound clip, regardless of how many times in a row you do the same move.

If for some reason you decided to exploit 5 enemies' weaknesses with a single target spell, you will get the exact same message 5 times. Would it have really killed em to record a second line so they could alternate?

Or, given how the game speeds up repeat actions anyway, just don't play anything.

Futaba's stat boosts aren't consistent enough to be useful and I like the soundtrack enough that I want to listen to the game but it always ends with me saying "please stop" to the tv over and over and over again.

I'm more irked by how Morgana ends up being the straight-up most competent navigator in the series so far by being able to fight and give intel at the same time.

Futaba's... fine, with her buffs and all, but still a blatant step back at that point.

Yeah, Morgana’s heal skills and all that are crazy useful but I hate him as a character.

Also, can someone please tell me why there’s apparently a P5 dance game coming out? That’s... bizarre.

Because the P4 dance game did well so they made one for 3 and 5 to cash in on it.

Yeah, I liked Morgana. He did some dumb poo poo but I could totally understand why he did it and he had some rad moments too.

The only part I really disliked was that I couldn't have Ann in my party while he was navigating because hearing :byodood: "YOU'RE SO GORGEOUS PANTHER" after every loving attack made me want to die inside.

RazzleDazzleHour

Morgana is not only a mega rear end in a top hat but also has possibly the worst character arc/social link in the entire series. His whole arc centers around the fact that he's trying to become human again so he can bone Ann, but come on, is there any point in the game where you honestly genuinely truly believed there was even a fraction of a chance of that happening? Yet every single dialogue choice you have with him is "nahhhhh dude I'm totally sure you're human!" How the heck did they manage to make an even worse version of Teddie?

Continued Merciless trip report, I just finished the fourth Palace in the goofiest way possible. Instead of using defense-boosting skills and guarding the bosses charge attack, I used three Physical Ointments to reflect 5000 damage and end the fight immediately. Money is no longer an issue either. Aside from doing the confusion trick to grind out 100k for SP patches, the fourth Palace is where the negotiation numbers get consistently high enough to where it doesn't even feel restricting - most enemies will give you 3k-7k per fight. I knew I was gonna cheese the boss so I barely did any level grinding, but I've definitely juuuust been squeezing by on the bosses so far, but I also haven't been using party defense/evasion buffs since I don't have access to Marakukaja/Masukukaja, but now that those skills are starting to appear hopefully things will level out a bit. Now that I have four SP Adhesives, Merciless is actually getting pretty fun, though I doubt I'll ever play it again because of how dumb and awful the first two dungeons are. I also think it would be even more fun if I wasn't also trying to max all my social links, since I can't spend a ton of time doing chain fusion since most of my slots are filled up with Personas I need for SLinking.

What? I mean aside from him constantly sucking up to her (telling her "I didn't look!" in the scene where the party is looking down Ann's shirt in the van ride to the fourth palace where she responds "only because you couldn't), "You're so gorgeous Panther" constantly, him saying he's jealous of you when you go on a study date with her, thinking about all the places he'd take her on a date, he also explicitly states during the hot pot dinner scene that he has to "hurry up and become human before someone takes her."

He's an incredibly insecure cat cosplaying a ninja who's basically treating Ann like a warrior-princess in a period drama. It's a lot more tolerable than Teddie just hitting on everything that moves.

None of those things mean that Morgana does not want to bone Ann, which he does and if you think he doesn't I'm genuinely not sure we played the same video game
