New article about Wilshere says Wenger told him back in August that he could leave because the club wouldn't offer him a new deal. Now he's swerving his car off the road at their offer of a mere 80k/week with "significant incentives".

Weird article. It sounds like he only talked about how Wenger told him he wouldn’t be offered a new contract, and the Guardian threw in the 80k offer to spice it up.

80k a week seems generous for a player with his injury history and that doesn’t exactly set the world on fire when he’s healthy. I’d be happy just to cut ties at this point.

Mourinho's meltdown continues. He was doing some kind of charity thing, and of course had to give some cutting remarks on the state United are in.

Soccernet posted:

Speaking on Wednesday from the Hublot Match of Friendship in Basel, Switzerland, Mourinho said he still doesn't understand the blame from supporters and pundits.

"I understand the frustration," Mourinho said. "I understand the sadness of being knocked out in the Champions League, but I don't understand anything more than that."

"In the history of football all around the world, not just in England, you had the biggest clubs with moments of transition," Mourinho said. "You have the biggest clubs with moments of continuous and permanent victories -- and these are phases in the club.

"I think really, in this moment, looking to us in the Premier League, we have one team, one club clearly better prepared than us in the past few years to be first and we have 18 clubs behind us. ... Of course, in the future, we want to have 19 behind us, but this is the reality."

When asked if United would play "exciting" football, Mourinho said: "Like we did [in winning 2-1] against Chelsea and against Liverpool? You mean that?"

Hmm possibly the problem might be related to you setting up to desperately defend a 0-0 against Sevilla in both legs of the loving Champions League knockout stages? And this being less a deviation from norm and more page 1 of 1 in your playbook at United?
