This is the first time that removing p/t-setting characteristic defining abilities is likely to come up in practice, right? All the other ways to remove the ability either explicitly give it some other p/t, or are too convoluted to actually come up outside of judge brainteasers (e.g. Conspiracy+Life and Limb+Blood Moon shenanigans).

Seriously, Nighthand. Mock up this with Please Clap in the bottom right with the Ixalan font, and I'll buy us both one.

To get good quality, we'd need 3675 x 2175 @ 150 PPI.

I made a bigger version but the source for Jeb is blurry because it's small and I can't find a better one. Also I have no fuckin' clue what the Ixalan font would be and I have nothing remotely similar installed. If someone can rectify those two issues I can throw a better one together, probably.

tl;dr: cut a couple lands from your deck probably

The key numbers to know are that 22 lands is where 3 lands becomes more likely than 2, and 26 lands is where 4 lands becomes more likely than 2. These are pretty dramatic breakpoints.

But how much grinding SHOULD it take for a F2P player to have a complete tier 1 deck? Also one of the devs mentioned on the beta forums that every pack you open raises your odds of getting a mythic wild card a little extra, so there is a floor for mythics.

This is a bad take. All the evidence from other games points to wanting to start off with pretty generous f2p to get as large a pop as possible and make the money off whales. f2p players should be able to create a few tier 1 decks a season, so they are still interested in the game by the end of it.

The game isn't out yet though, this is a brand new untested economy and they're giving ~7 packs a week if you do all the quests. That seems pretty generous.

Its really not. The packs sizes are small and without wildcards showing up for rare and mythic this is just basically a powered up sealed league.

Or you are numot and get the devs to hook you up and your mono red has 4 hazorets.

How does that seem generous? If you don't get lucky, you grind for a couple months to get a single t1 deck that gets wiped a little bit later. If you are lucky, you can get two overlapping ones, or maybe even three with one that's different.

They'd be way better off by giving everybody easier access to cards until they implement the store, draft, and any other key components of the economy they want to test.

But that's not testable when it's going to be wiped, when they don't have real formats (or even bo3 not-standard), and when there is no other option. It's terrible experiment design, you have too many confounds.

From a dev on the beta forums

quote:

The chances of receiving a wildcard increases with each pack opened, until the probability reaches 100% - it is not cumulative probability, but rather, actual percent of appearance in the pack that is being opened.

This is done by rarity - so obtaining a Mythic Rare Wildcard doesn't reset your probability of receiving a Rare, Uncommon, or Common Wildcard.

As stated earlier, numbers are not final yet, so we're not ready to disclose the probabilities.
