e: checked wiki and apparently it was only one series of Sex and the City which is even more pathetic. They're clearly a lot more liberal with the categories on the celebrity version going by the article.

Years ago I watched a World Mastermind Final type thing - the winners of the UK, Australian, Canadian, whatever versions. The guy who won it chose The Lord of the Rings as his subject - OK, lots of names etc but pretty manageable. One of the other contestants chose Agriculture. Just Agriculture - all of it, everywhere, ever.

I saw a trailer on the BBC earlier for The City & The City, an adaptation of China Miéville's novel. starring David Morrissey. Interestingly enough, I was literally thinking about that book this morning, pondering how unfilmable it'd be, unaware of this adaptation coming. Guess I was wrong! :haw:

I was telling someone at work about this today. I can't think how they'd film it, unless they're willing to really go all in on the effects.

I see it's being filmed in Liverpool and Manchester - I hope they're using one for each City.

It specifically locates itself in a fictional country in Eastern Europe that sounds a bit like Istanbul - a place with a merger of east and west.

I have absolutely no idea how they'd film it either though. Especially considering how it ends. I've lost faith in book adaptions though - there's plenty of decent programmes made from books recently (like Annihilation) but they're really rarely anything at all like the book.

What series of Not Going Out is the best one to jump in at?

Poor Kerry. It was such a sad episode. I loved her obsession with the screwfix catalogue and the fact she still has a pet hamster. She’s adorable.

Season 3 of People Just Do Nothing is finally on Netflix. DJ Beats as a father to be is great. ‘I didn’t realise it’d have arms at this point.’

This series has definitely made them a bit more likeable. Kurtan and the vicar's son, and the stuff he did this episode, was rather sweet :3: no dancing in the streets coz the hated teacher is dead.

I dunno if you need the spoilers because I don’t think there are many people who watch the show ITT. If they handle it sensitively I think it breaks a taboo. I remember Hollyoaks doing the same story years ago and it did start conversations. As a dumb teenager, it didn’t even occur to me that it happened to men.

I believe Hollyoaks did a follow up recently where it showed that the character was still traumatised and the attack was still causing issues.

If you guys aren't watching Swedish Taskmaster while you wait for the real Taskmaster to come back you're missing out. Couple of the guests appear to have walked straight off the stage of Channel 9 but it did demonstrate that we've lost out by never having seen little Alex Horne wearing a mankini.

There’s a trailer for the US version of Taskmaster too (sorry am on phone and don’t have link to hand). It still looks like it’s going to be a 30min timeslot affair which will hurt it. The tasks look like they’re mostly adapted from the UK one, and they’re pushing the silliness angle mainly because the US still doesn’t really get the concept of panel shows.

Juries still out, I’ll give it a shot mostly based on Ron Funches. Airs next month.
