It will probably also change your list separator from a comma to a semicolon (since Windows won't let you use the same for both), which can cause all kinds of fun errors when people are trying to import data from systems in Sweden to systems in the US using .csv files.

Acrylic.

edit: Beyond a certain point (around 100 gallon) you get problems with glass supporting it's own weight and being heavy in it's own right, so you take the optical hit.

*After* a certain point, you need optical clarity, so the tank tends towards having large slabs of specialist glass embedded in a polymer seal. If you ever go to Nassau, the Atlantis complex has large 18' panels into the tank in the dining room and one of the biggest rays I've ever seen.

Helmar from CCP actually had a fairly large marine tank built for their offices (pre-monoclegate) - 2000 gallon

The whole 'neverending crowdfunding' aside, what does an actual game development gannt chart look like with regards to code, interactions, inverse kinematics, cutscene, texture, environment et al. Can you adjust textures right up until the end?

Throwing that one open to anyone with more game dev experience. I know roughly what a commercial critical path looks like, but I don't know how much paralleling that game dev can do.

There is no way to actually answer this because what they are doing is actually unprecedented. Their development is not only backwards but disfuctional as gently caress so trying to put them in any point along the line for 'AAA Generic game development' would look like this:

The only thing you can know is that they are in the very early stage but otherwise it's impossible to determine what the gently caress is going on.

As I understand it, the main trade off is acrylic is lighter than glass and can be made into more interesting shapes, but it scratches much easier and can get nasty looking due to its porous nature. I've never had a tank large enough to get anything other than glass so I'm not entirely sure though.

Not really, but you can't beat it for strength up to the point where it starts to look optically bad when you need large areas. Most home aquaria don't get deeper than 24" (because you have to reach the bottom), and that means you can use silicone to joint. After a while it's just better to get something warm-formed with welded seals, but you're obviously investing time and energy in working on the *insides* of the tank.

As most shelters (in my area at least) are filled with them you can generally find one to foster. Socialization is important but you'll get that rundown at the shelter. I've had two friends who recently adopted pits as service animals following a fostering period and they couldn't be happier.

I did this one time, coasting through a project with the 2 other outcasts I got teamed with. It involved competing against other teams for votes from an audience.

We half-assed everything.

We got like 595 votes out of 600. We did so good every other team basically tied.

Same, although Polyray was a gateway to _a totally legitimate copy of one thousand five hundred dollar value_ Lightwave and I converted a bunch of our factory general arrangements into renders, so I actually had a legit use. Got a really nice series of industrial textures down too, but the world moved to 3d parametric modelling and left the classic draftsman behind.

Lightwave was the thing that they used for Babylon 5 and SeaQuest DSV. I couldn't get to grips with 3DS Max because the modifier stack would be an alien concept until much, much later.

If this is what Roberts means by “Emergent Content” then I’m genuinely excited about what the future holds!

What is interesting to me, as absurd as it may seem, is that despite the parodic experience the moment produced actual suspense. This is a relatively rare thing in Star Citizen gameplay. We as viewer have no idea how it will play it. WTFO doesn’t know what the pilot will do nor the pilot what he will do as passenger. The fact that they can’t easily communicate exacerbates this, though this will surely get remedied in a later build.

Despite the server issues, interface issues, passivity of the passenger experience... it’s still a very rare moment where anything could happen. It’s an ad hoc plot that could break one of many directions. It broke down hilariously but you can still get a glimpse of the possibility. Even if it feels impossible for them to get there.
