Dutton's got way worse polling performance on record than Trumpble.

Sam Dastyari shares the real story behind Malcolm Turnbull’s selfie with a gay porn star

SAM Dastyari has dished on the real story behind one of Malcolm Turnbull’s most infamous selfies with a gay male porn star.

FORMER Labor senator Sam Dastyari has shared the backstory behind one of Malcolm Turnbull’s most infamous selfies.

Justin Jedlica — best known as the aspiring “human Ken doll” — appeared as a guest at an exclusive Liberal Party fundraiser on Budget night last year.

The Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Julie Bishop and Senate President Stephen Parry were among Liberal MPs who posed for selfies with Jedlica — unaware that he was a male porn star and escort.

Speaking with KIIS FM’s Kyle & Jackie O this morning, Mr Dastyari shed some more light on the appearance, namely how one of Mr Turnbull’s own security guards recognised the guest from his adult films.

“The Prime Minister has a private security detail,” explained Mr Dastyari. “Their first job is to protect the PM for safety, and the second is to stop him from getting embarrassed.

“After the selfie had been taken, one of the security guards recognised (Jedlica) as a male porn star. He has a profile on XTube.

“They get the guy out of the room, escort him out of the building, and then there’s this bizarre cover-up as to who actually signed him in.”

He said people are still trying to figure out which guest of Mr Turnbull’s actually brought Jedlica in.

“Clearly they didn’t expect the Prime Minister’s security to be so good that they’d even know who a gay porn star is.”

Jedlica is estimated to have had between 130 and 150 plastic surgeries, including three different types of surgery on his testicles alone.

Then the politicians started doing it too during breaks.

Then things started to get out of hand as more and more drunken pollies and reporters ended up flying off the bannisters at high speed into decorative plants, urns, people, etc.

Also several people ended up with broken bones and incredibly flimsy excuses were given for their origin.

It was a more innocent time.

Yeah, they don't have a strong replacement candidate, plus Turnbull isn't really dragging the party down poll-wise and he donated 1.75M to the last campaign.

He may be really unpopular with the delcons but the more level-headed members know they are stuck with him.

I think it's worse than that. The Libs actually needed Trumpbull's money because it wasn't bringing in enough donation money to manage by itself.

http://abc.net.au/news/2018-03-28/bernardi-feels-whiteanted-by-former-conservative-colleagues/9598048?pfmredir=sm

quote:

Australian Conservatives federal leader Cory Bernardi has lashed out at his former South Australian colleagues, accusing them of white-anting his start-up party from within by considering joining the Liberal Party.

The party's South Australian leader, Dennis Hood, announced on Monday he was quitting to join Premier Steven Marshall's newly-elected Liberal government.

It was later revealed that Mr Hood had been encouraged to consider the move by his Conservatives colleague Robert Brokenshire, who was up for re-election at this month's poll.

With the count of Legislative Council votes yet to be finalised, Mr Brokenshire, a former Liberal minister, appears unlikely to be returned.

On Monday, Mr Bernardi expressed disappointment at Mr Hood's departure but said he bore his former colleague no ill will.

However the Senator has now told Sky News that the defection has left him feeling dejected and that he suspects it had been under active consideration prior to the election.

"My wife said to me during the state election campaign, 'who are these people working for, the Australian Conservatives or the Liberal Party?'" he said.

Mr Hood has denied discussing any move with the Liberal Party until the week after the election.

But Senator Bernardi expressed doubts over his former colleague's claims.

"There's been reports that the state Liberal President told senior Liberals that it was likely the Australian Conservatives would be joining them after the election," he said.

"It feels like I've been white-anted from within."

Dennis Hood and Robert Brokenshire are both former members of Family First. Both joined Australian Conservatives last year, when the two conservative parties united in a merger.

Mr Bernardi did not name Mr Hood or Mr Brokenshire directly, but expressed disappointment at his state team.

"I invested a lot in the two people running the campaign and my team, the Australian Conservatives team, worked overtime. We put money into it and we did our very best," he said.

"But as I said, some things have come to light, including preference deals, including candidates.

"We agreed to have 10 candidates, then they asked for 20, I agreed to that and then they announced 33.

"And some of those candidates, apparently, I've since been told were given to us by the Liberal Party.

"And clearly I put too much faith and trust in others and that won't happen again."

Mr Brokenshire rejected those claims.

"It's unfortunate comment," he said.

"There were no discussions before the election. It was as simple as that."

Dennis Hood has also denied any suggestion that discussions were under way prior to the election.

"There is no truth whatsoever to the suggestion," he said.

"Utterly false and without basis."

That would take the whole thing beyond 'borderline unconstitutional and probably undemocratic' to 'Plainly unconstitutional and blatantly undemocratic'.

Tbh the smartest thing the ALP could do upon forming govt is sitting down with the greens and figuring out a donations reform that works for both parties, ram it through the senate, and take away one massive advantage the Liberals really don't need to have, given they've already got the media.

That will level the field and also keep the ALP right in safe seats from drifting towards the money, and making the party look even shittier.

In no way can I see this plan go wrong

The ABC has learned infrastructure projects will be the big ticket items in the May budget, but the cash influx will come with a condition.

The Commonwealth is willing to fund major projects, such as the Ring Road upgrade in Melbourne, but only if it gets a share in road toll income.

This more assertive approach to infrastructure funding will extend beyond roads, to rail projects and public transport.

Also the Big Business tax cut is now an election issue. He suspects a spill is coming and wants to go early?

The NE side of Melbourne traffic is hosed due to railway line upgrades - it's going to be worse when they start the Freeway and President Trumball wants to charge car drivers more so they can get some of the cash from (soon to be hated) Toll on the NE link (and I strongly suspect the currently toll free Eastern Freeway).

One of the conspirators who allegedly helped Salim Mehajer stage a car crash to avoid court last year was captured by a surveillance device saying Mehajer's lawyer told him to stage the smash, according to court documents.

Ahmed Jaghbir, 28, was arrested in January and charged with perverting the course of justice and conspiracy to cheat and defraud after he allegedly organised a woman to crash into Mehajer's car at a Lidcombe intersection on October 16, 2017.

Mehajer, who had been driving to a court hearing in Sydney's CBD to face charges of assaulting a taxi driver, had to be cut out of his car and taken to hospital.

Seven people including Mehajer have since been charged over the crash, with police alleging Mehajer's car had been insured at an inflated price nine days earlier and the crash served the dual purpose of avoiding court and defrauding an insurance company.

Mehajer and the alleged conspirators have denied the allegations against them.

A police statement of facts, tendered to Burwood Local Court on Wednesday, alleges Jaghbir attended an early-morning meeting on the day of the crash "where a diagram was drawn".

Afterwards, Mehajer allegedly drove along the same stretch of road twice before a Mitsubishi Outlander slammed into him at an intersection. The driver of that car, who has also been charged, allegedly told police she was "startled" by her passenger and accidentally hit the accelerator instead of the brake.

Police allege surveillance of Jaghbir captured him saying he was told by lawyer Brett Galloway to organise the collision.

"You know who's the one who told me to do it? Yeah you know who told me to do it... Brett Galloway," Jaghbir allegedly said.

"He goes 'you f---ing idiot, you've caused the biggest accidents in Australia you c---. Cause an accident for him'. Exact words that come out of his mouth."

Another man allegedly asked Jaghbir: "What's the cause? What can he do? What's he gonna get out of it?"

Jaghbir allegedly replied: "It's buying him time."

Mr Galloway, who was representing Mehajer at his court hearing on October 16, informed the court that his client had been involved in a "relatively serious" crash.

In January this year, Mr Galloway was due to represent Mehajer at the rescheduled hearing for the taxi driver assault when he withdrew from the case, telling the court he had an "ethical dilemma" and had been "asked to take a position which is untenable".
