Four seasons in and the show still hasn't had a single conversation that was not somehow about the main character. Maybe this is a "well after four seasons of pedoshit, season 5 gets really good" but I doubt it.

Can somebody explain to me this viciousness you people seem to have for the Blockbuster Buster? From what I can gather, he makes somewhat cringe reviews of cartoons and comics and I don't see how how this inspires such hatred. With so many reviewers being various degrees of sexist or racist assholes, I figure the worst the guy deserves should be a dismissive comment about being rather superficial, but you basically throw more poo poo his way than the actual loving pedophile got. Did I miss something? Is that dude a giant rear end in a top hat and I just don't know? Because otherwise I find it kind of sad how we have an ongoing discussion about harassment and bullying in online review production, only to turn around and do the same to a guy because he doesn't have top notch production quality.

Have to say folks, unless there's some behind the scenes things that we're missing I don't really disagree with this. Compared to a lot of the folks we've been talking about lately, a guy who just makes pretty lousy videos feels almost saintly by comparison.

There is literally nothing to the show besides the pedoshit because literally every single character is defined solely by their relation with the pedophile lead. I only ever watched the first season and that was right around when it premiered (which was, Jesus Christ, almost ten years ago) so I may be misremembering, but the first season wasnt as in-your-face about this stuff, had some actually decent dialogue writing, and had an extremely well-executed aesthetic that was unlike anything in television at the time, with extremely creative use of cut-paper, intertitles, photomontage, and digital animation that was perfected from the psycho pop-art direction in Shafts adaptation of Sayonara, Zetsubou Sensei.

Why are we talking about some weird snake rape anime. As for blockbuster buster, consider this: Doug has been making videos for a decade, and his style has barely improved in that time save for getting a better camera. Blockbuster buster has been doing things for nearly as long, except when he started he was even more amateurish than Doug, and in ten years time, his style has not improved at all and has in fact gotten worse. I didn’t mind Blockbuster Buster when he kept his skits to a relative minimum (though they were terrible and I always skipped them), but then a few years ago he threw out his old format and switched over to making almost entirely skit-based videos which were just a complete trainwreck. They were basically just scenes from the movies clumsily reenacted by BB’s friends while he stood around trying to look like a badass. He’s very like Doug in a lot of ways. I remember shortly before the format switch he made another video explaining what was going on, and talking about how he was pouring all of his effort and resources into making this new show the best it could be. It reminded me so much of how Doug promoted Demo Reel, and the result somehow managed to be even worse. Bakeneko fucked around with this message at 18:46 on Mar 27, 2018 |

I've only seen one video that Blockbuster Buster has done but it was really good. It was his Darkwing Duck retrospective which was him out of character talking about how much he liked the series including the at the time ongoing Comic series. I'd highly recommend it to anyone who wants to see him at his best.

I've been delving into MandaloreGaming. He has managed to do something I have not seen anyone else do: he managed to comprehensively describe E.Y.E Divine Cybermancy in such a way that I actually really want to play it. Terrible Opinions posted:I have no idea how the dialogue is in Japanese but the english subtitles on both crunchyroll and the pirate sites blow, and even in the first season you got the big old snake rape/exorcism. Apparently, Nisi0isiN’s dialogue is really difficult to translate because it leans super hard on Japanese puns and wordplay to inject extra layers of meaning. So he gets a lot of critical plaudits for it over there, but not so much over here. Arcsquad12 posted:Why are we talking about some weird snake rape anime. OK, I have to cross-post this over the Germany, Internet Critic and Horror movie thread because it concerns all three of them and I am seriously creeped out by this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rsmpa7e_zGM This is a video review of the strange Canadian horror movie "The Pit", by Internet Critic Brandon Tenold. It's about a creepy kid feeding people to monsters in a hole. Now the thing that just doesn't leave me alone until I've talked about this: In my childhood I read across the weird collection of SF- and fantasy novels of our local library in Nienburg, Germany. In one of these anthologies, a book which looked like it was decades old even back in the 90s (I think it was from the early-to-late 70s, like many of the anthologies our library had), there was a shortstory called "The Pit". You may notice something. The story was nearly exactly the same, exact that the kid was younger and acted more age appropriate. And since I didn't expect to read creepy horror in a SF-anthology, it scared the gently caress out of me. Especially since it never showed or described the monsters, instead of showing them as silly trolls, like this movie does. So when the kid gets shoved into another hole full of monsters at the end (spoilers), I had severe nightmares of the woods being full of holes with strange, unknowable flesh-eating monsters in it. So I'm feeling really weird right now to learn that one of the terrors of my childhood inspired some crazy Canadians to make a tepid monster movie out of it. And then later there was a novel based on the movie called "teddy". (The kid talks to a teddy in the movie and the shortstory both. As I remember it, the teddy never answers in the shortstory, though. It's just something a little kid does. Also spoilers: The kid isn't loving 12 year old in the old story.) Sadly our library later threw out all the old books from the SF- and fantasy-section. I tried buying some of the anthologies, but the two I got were the most boring ones, without "The Pit" in it. Google only finds the movie, probably because the story was only in that one weird anthology from the 70s no-one remembers anymore. (I can't even remember the title or the other stories myself! Only "The Pit" made any lasting impact.) The question is, is this just a titanic coincidence or did the script writers somehow knew about this obscure story and just copied most of it?

Liking things isn’t her schtick, and The Hobbit trilogy is bad enough to deserve all the scorn in the world. I think she gives things the benefit of the doubt when most people tend to write them off, for example her video on Stephenie Meyer or her one talking about how Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame wasn't quite the kiddie insult to the original work that literary buffs often treat it like. She also opened this video in way where I thought she would be much more positive than it ended up being.

I've never seen anything about him doing anything morally wrong, it's the cringe factor. I suspect that the other producers and former producers shrink in revulsion from him because they worry that they are secretly like him, that he represents the worst quality their genre has to offer and they will be judged by association. Similar to how we on this website are all self-hating nerds who spend a lot of time dunking on other, lesser nerds.

I don't think it counts as harassment and bullying if the discussion never gets to him. In my opinion, it's fine to comment- even meanly- about a work that someone has put up for perusal, if you're in a venue where the creator has the option of never seeing your opinion. It's not okay to track a creator down and shove your opinions in their face. (People make a big deal about "But what about constructive criticism???" but honestly I don't see any reason why creators should accept crit of any sort from internet randos. There's ways to get it if you want it.) I'm assuming that everyone here is obeying the safari rule and not being the rear end in a top hat who goes and bothers the wildlife.
