That penalty has sentenced Italy to another garbage cycle with a a garbage manager, I can feel it. Thanks VAR.

I was going to say that they should have had a penalty shoot out at the end for laughs/experience, but then I realised that Italy aren't going to the World Cup and England won't make it out of the group stages anyway.

The most dangerous scoreline almost did us in, thank Christ for Zielinski. Also, Napolol have completely broken Milik, he's afraid of touching the ball.

He's barely played since he's been injured almost the whole season. It's a shame because he looked really good before he broke.

also, even with Iniesta and Silva getting older (and Cazorla dead), they're still going to have an embarrassment of riches in midfield for the following two World Cup cycles

So is the "clear and obvious error" thing around VAR the same as "hands in an unnatural position" or "last man" commentary bullshit? Because that's another call I've seen VAR make that has overturned the ref's initial decision (corner) when tbh, while he trod on his foot, it's one of those "seen em given, seen em not given" type things.

Even the Italians were just appealing for a corner.

My theory is that VAR is allowing refs to call the little technical fouls that they would want to anyway, but didn't have the courage in their convictions to do previously. Before they would have been absolutely slaughtered in the press for giving things like that as penalties, but now everyone can see that yes there was contact and yes it was technically a foul and the blame goes on VAR rather than the refs.

didn't the gulf was poaching refs as well
