If I have $100 in Amazon gift cards, are there any good sealed products to be had? I was considering the mono red Challenger deck that comes out next week but it is almost $50 on Amazon. I was thinking of a booster box but it seems like a waste if I just crack all them open.

I think it's really good actually, and it's impressed me with its smartness and streamlining more often than not. I mean, there's flaws, but at the top of my poo poo list is how ability tooltips only show up in-game and not in deck building or when you pull them from a pack, the lack of flavor text, and how it's really frigging hard to target planeswalkers instead of players. That's... not bad for a game still in closed beta?

I don't think it's arguable that up against MtG:O it looks like a brand new Ferrari being compared with a busted oxcart.

edit: Oh wait, I forgot one; the turn timer is way too loving long and there's no apparent penalty for stalling. Oh, you sat on your rear end for five minutes? You lose a nebulously defined "time out", have a fresh five minutes on the clock. Luckily most people don't stall but if someone's feeling slow it's time to alt-tab out and find something interesting to read.

Thankfully now that the NDA dropped Arena talk is no longer probatable ITT.

With the update I was lucky enough to crack a Scarab God and traded my mythic wildcard into another TSG and generally made a Dimir Midrange Goodstuff pile.

One of the more frustrating things about this semi-sealed league thing is how it makes the mana base such a hurdle. If I were making this in paper I'd drop $25 on playsets of Drowned Catacombs and Fetid Pools. In Arena that's 8 daggone rare wildcards I'm gonna have to grind out and dropping on lands instead of Hostage Takers or Vraska's Contempt or whatever.

Same problem trying to build a dumb budget gimmick deck for fun in Arena and realizing that all those 25 cents bulk cards are technically rares and the deck would take months to grind out cards for

I mean, yeah, there's that, but on the other hand those rare/mystic rare wild cards will also get you some ridiculous $100 god-card, no questions asked, so I tend to think of them as being pretty generous. A lot depends on the pace of how often you get the wild cards, since you can't dust.

If the junk rares are the same price as the good ones, that means the junk rares are amazingly overpriced because otherwise why would you ever get them? At the rate you get wild cards, by the time you've made a tier 1 deck to ladder with, you'll make it half way through your fun gimmick deck before all the cards in it rotate. If you decide to make the gimmick deck first, you had better be very very very sure you want to commit to that gimmick for that long because if you waste your first wildcards, it'll take a LONG long time to make a real deck.

It's coming. Estimates I'm seeing put it square in the middle of the per-deck price of other digital ccgs if the bulk pack pricing gets down near $1
