So I spent some time looking at the match total and times for Mania the past 10 years or so and boy, when you get rid of stuff like the 10-30 second squashes and the 2 minute Diva tags, the amount of matches at Wrestlemania has just ballooned completely out of control the last three years. E: Thought this was the WWE Discussion thread. It's not!

A lot of '99 is dire but in 99 you get Rock being insanely over after turning back babyface, the Rock & Sock stuff is really fun and HHH is starting to hit his stride as a main event heel. The most compelling thing on the undercard is probably X-Pac and Kane, and you also have the genesis of the Hardys/E&C/Dudleyz even if the Hardys and E&C are nothings in terms of characters just yet. Chyna's position on the card is so weird though. She pals around with the top heel in the company (even uses his theme song and entrance), helps him do heelish things against Austin etc, but then is booked as a babyface in her feud against Jarrett. Then Russo and poo poo leave and you get 2000 which is some of my favorite stuff ever. I've said this a million times but it's a) Someone does wrong by the Rock. b) The Rock cuts a promo saying how at PPV X he's going to Stomp a Mud Hole in Y. c) Rock stomps a mud hole in Y. d) Everyone is happy. e) Someone then does wrong by the Rock and then... (repeat) Like you know that poo poo they do where they make the babyface look like an Idiot? They do the opposite , always stack the deck against the Rock but Rock always wins, but it's actually awesome and not dull and repetitive.

OTT have done a podcast, and they got Joe Cabray, the promoter in to publicise it https://ottwrestling.podbean.com/ It's interesting. For those who don't know, Over the Top Wrestling is the Irish promotion that is serving the same audience as Progress/RevPro/Riptide/Defiant etc in the UK. Joe started OTT 4 years ago, and went from 12 tickets presale for his first show, to 1200 tickets sold in a day for his first stadium show. He's gone through the indies, NXT (briefly) and promoted 5000 seat shows in France, and come back to Ireland. In the podcast, he talks about his path to OTT, what it was like in Florida and what he got from that, what wrestlers are trained for in NXT beyond wrestling. He discusses show day, why he largely retired from active wrestling and one of the largest controversies in OTT, as well as touching on the wrestlers who he has had in OTT (Pete Dunne\Ryan Smile\Aleister Black\Jeff Cobb) and the ones who got away for whatever reason. He also discusses how he sees the relationship between the UK promotions and OTT, and ROH, WWE and NJPW, and the trickiness of long term booking in the modern landscape. It's a really good listen, he's pretty unguarded and he's been around a bit.
